Tuesday Tip - Double Stitched Rectangles framing

Returning to this Very Vintage card with double Stitched Rectangle frames ... with a step by step tutorial for you as requested...

But first... a shout out to the original designer of this card... a fellow Jems team member June Wressell who made this card as her swap for the last Quarterly Training event...
It WOWed me at the time ... then I added one of the Sale A Bration Butterfly Elements... and then everyone picked it up off my display... and so it just had to be re-done in alternative colourways...! Thanks again June...

And so to the Tutorial...

Recipe
Card Blank A6 Whisper White
Thin Whisper White 4.3 x 7.6cm
Smoky Slate 5 x 8.5cm
Highland Heather 5 x 8.5cm

1. Ink up and stamp the Very Vintage image in Smoky Slate on 3 sides of the Thin Whisper White panel
2. Colour in flowers with light Highland Heather Stampin Blend (or Aqua Painter and ink pads as per original card!! But Stampin Blend colouring is neater and easier!)

3. Adhere to front of A6 card blank
4. Die cut Highland Heather and Smoky Slate frames using 2 of the nesting Rectangle Stitched dies (these 2 are the 2nd and 3rd smallest in the nest of 8)

Tip - you may find it easier to use low tack tape to hold the 2 dies together... and definitely easier if you are doing a few !!
5. You end up with 3 frames! The middle one is the one to use... but you can make other things with the other 2!
6. Cut Heather frame about half way down on the right hand side
7. Slip the Heather frame "behind" the Smoky Slate frame using the cuts to the right hand side to just slip behind!

8. Adhere 2 frames in place... and then onto card around the stamped panel...
Or if you would like to add some more colour.... you could colour in the leaves on the stamped image  using (say) Granny Apple Green Light Stampin Blend...

9. Punch butterfly from Botanical Butterfly papers (rough cut around a butterfly... place butterfly on post it note... insert as required into punch..and punch) OR stamp & punch butterfly using Butterfly Gala

10. Add greeting as required... I used (the now retired) More Than Words at the time! In Highland Heather & the darker Gorgeous Grape...

Enjoy! And thanks again June...

  2. Thank you, but your tutorial differs from the card example above it where the top right corner of the purple frame is tucked behind the grey frame's corner. It's quite effective that way. ;)

  3. Well so it is… thanks for pointing that out… you can of course place it either way… I made a lot of these at the time but trust me to select a finished sample slightly different to my step by step photos! Sorry if there was any inconvenience for you…
