Scallop Square #16 & #17 – Anyone for a Creme Egg box?

2012_04_Summer Mini Cards 046I totally forgot to post these at Easter….. Silly me…. as they were very popular with kids and adults alike…. And then I had to find Creme Eggs the other week…. ( as the originals had been eaten !! Don’t know who by!!??) which was harder than first imagined….. so a big thanks to Lisa for finally spotting some in the market..

I  used Creme egg co-ordinating colours for the first one  - along with the cute Everybunny stamp set and not-Creme Egg- colours for the other – along with the “old” Sale A Bration stamp set Fresh Vintage and the Postage Stamp Punch.

The Scallop Square die cut is just a regular 9 scallop square one for the box top and bottom on the Everybunny one. Just scored in 3 scallops from each side. 2012_07 220

But spot the shorter lid and the little scalloped base on the Postage Stamp one… yes – these are also done using the Scallop Square die…. Another double-cut trick here.

1. Again cut card to one scallop larger than you require and at 1/2” per scallop  – so for this finished 4 scallop square base  - cut a 2 1/2” square to cover 5 scallops….. or a 4” square to cover 8 scallops for the 7 scallop lid piece.

2. Place the cut card piece over a corner of the die so that 5 scallops (or 8 for lid) are covered in each direction.

3. Die cut

4 Pick up your card piece, turn so that the scalloped edges are within your die and place 4 scallops (or 7 for lid) in on the 2 corner sides ( with the end scallops nicely lined up within the cutting edge of the die …)

5. Die cut.  Finished!!

And here are some photos to show what all those words actually mean for the 4 scallop base – on the die so to speak!!

And for the shorter ( 7 scallop) lid – score in 3 scallops from 2 opposing sides and then  2 scallops in on the other 2 opposing sides….. The base is the regular 9 scallop die cut – scored 3 scallops in from each side.

Scallop Square #15 – Attic Boutique Side Concertina Mini Book

2012_07 236_resize

So here is the fourth ( and last) of my series of Mini Books made using the Attic Boutique papers and the Scallop Square die . Another CASE of a fantastic mini book I found on the web – this time by Kim Assaly. ( and there is a video done by Kim there too!!) Now this was my favourite of the 4 initially….. really simple way to present about 7 photos…..

2012_07 233_resize And easy use of the Scallop Square die cut here too. Just as a photo mat – either as the full sized square  - or as a rectangle.

A rectangle is pretty easy to cut. Just another double-cut trick!

1. Cut your piece of card to one scallop wider than you need – and allow 1/2” for each scallop. So for this 6 scallop example one  - I cut the card to 4 3/4” by 3 1/2”.

2. Place the card on the die so that 3 scalloped edges of the die are covered ( eg top, bottom & left hand side). Die cut! You will end up with the full 9 scallops along the left hand side and about 7 scallops along the top and bottom.

3. Then move the cut shape across the die so that 6 full cut scallops are lined up within the top and bottom die cutting edges.  The uncut/ straight edge of the card will be off to the right of the right hand cutting edge. Die cut!

2012_07 234_resize

Actually I know there are a few pictorial/video examples of this on the web…. so I am just off for a hunt!! OK back now…..  Pictorial here. Video here .

And the book itself….

The pages are 2 pieces of 12” x 4 3/4” same colour card. Scored at 4 3/4” and 9 1/2”. Valley fold next to narrow section, other mountain.

The cover is one piece of 12” x 5” card. Scored at 2 1/2”; 3”; 8” and 8 1/2”. All mountain folds.

Place the opened-out cover down in front of you with the flaps to top and bottom

Glue the narrow sections of the pages to the centre section of the cover.

The belly band is a 12” x 1 1/2” piece of card. Just wrapped and creased loosely around the book when it is completed. Don’t wrap it too tight – you won’t be able to get it off easily!!

Eh voila!! Just the decoration to do.

Scallop Square #14 - Attic Boutique Central Concertina Mini Book

Now this little mini book was the favourite of the ladies doing my "Attic Boutique in association with the Scallop Square Die!!!" class. Very simple but very effective.

This book is CASED from one I found on Pinterest by Fiorella. There are more page photos here of Fiorella's book. And here is a link to Alice Carman who inspired Fiorella's book.....

Thank you Alice and Fiorella. I love this one!I just added the Scallop Square die cut to the back of the completed book to finish it off.

But the main tool for this little book was the Metric Plate for my SU! Simply Scored scoring board. Makes the scoring job SO easy!!

The central concertina pages are made using two 12" x 10cm pieces of same colour cardstock.  Both are scored at 10, 20 and 30cm. & then concertina folded ( mountain, valley, mountain). Then just adhere the 2 together using the narrow flap. ( the front one has the mountain fold to the front at the right hand side and the narrow flap to the back at the right hand side)

The cover is 27cm x 10 1/2cm. This is scored at 8, 9, 19 1/2 and 20 1/2cm . All mountain folded. The concertina pages are glued to the inside centre section of the cover using the narrow flap. And the Scallop Square is then glued to the outside centre section.

And then it is finished bar the decoration!!! Enjoy.....

Scallop Square #13 - Flip n Fold Mini Album

Here is the second of my 4 simple mini books using the Attic Boutique set of papers and the Scallop Square die.

This is based upon a favourite mini book format of mine that has been tried and tested a few times already.... as you can see in the 2 links here.....
Nursery Suite Baby Boy Mini Book
Newsprint Mini Books

But the difference is that.... this time the main page when opened out  is a large 7 1/2" Scallop Square shape.

So how have I done this from a die that is only 4 1/2" Square???

The trick is ....... some clever folding and a piece of scrap paper!!

Take an 8" square piece of cardstock.
Score in half at 4" in both directions. Bone Fold.
Cut down one scored line to centre.
Place the opened up square down if front of you with the cut line to the top centre.

And now it is the clever folding time.....
1. Fold the top right hand page down over the bottom right hand page
2. Fold the bottom right hand page over the bottom left hand page
3. Fold the top left hand page over the left hand bottom page

And now it is the scrap paper and die cutting time!! Hopefully one photo will be worth a 1000 words!!

But here are the words in any case!!!
1. Place a piece of scrap paper over the top right hand corner of the die
2. Pick up your folded pages with the cut edge on the top and to the right hand side
3. Place the folded pages onto the die one scallop down from the top and one scallop in from the right ( this should be held level on the die by the piece of scrap paper!)
4. Die cut!
5. And you should end up with this......

Scallop Square #12 - Matchbook Mini Album

Here is a quick and simple little mini album using the Attic Boutique set of papers.

This is based upon a mini book shared by Stampin' Up! in the monthly magazine (aka Stampin' Impressions) they post out to all demonstrators.  I just tweaked the sizes to suit the Scallop Square shape!

This was one of a set of 4 mini books we did in a class a few weeks ago. All using the Attic Boutique papers - and yes you guessed it - all featuring the Scallop Square die cut in one way or another.....

The outer cover is a piece of 4" by A4 Wide card ( ie 8 1/4" or 21cm)  scored at 1" and 5".

The 2 inner pages are 4" by 2 1/8" and 3 1/8" both scored at 1/4"

And the rest is all decoration.  Simples!!!

Scallop Square #11 - Box of Bright Blossoms 3" Square Mini Cards

Right here goes.  Plan A is to post one of my completed scallop square projects each day ...

And plan B is to post some mini -tutorials amongst them showing you how I did some of the tricks too.....

So now I have said it... I just need to deliver......

So here is another simple box lid made from a Scallop Square die cut. This time - I have scored in one scallop from each edge - this makes a 9cm square (or 3  9/16") lid. Perfectly sized to hold my 3" square cards and envelopes.

The cards were made using just 3 marker pens for inking and the Bright Blossoms & Thank You Kindly stamp sets. A great little combination for making some quick, simple & cute cards on a budget.

And the label on the top of the box... that is from the Creatively Yours stamp set - a great stamp set for those that make their own gifts & treats (whether in the craft room or the kitchen!!) - and one that also includes stamps with the SU! copyright logo for those that wish to sell goods made with SU! products.

Team Meeting Christmas Swap Card

Here is the swap card I did for the swap at our Team Meeting last Saturday. The challenge was to produce a Christmas Card using Punch or Die Art - or using non-Christmas stamps......  Took a bit of thinking through.... but finally a simple die-cut christmas word with an punched & embossed scallop circle wreath settled in my head... And so here it is ....

And in return I received some fantastic swaps from a very talented group of ladies. I was really WOWed. Not only lots of beautiful cards & tags but my Christmas table is going to look fantastic this year!!

Lots more to share on the Team Meeting later... especially more Scallop Square Die creations..... I think I have 40+ projects made now from my 101 list.... so loads to post!!
