Happy Valentines Day - Flap Boxes and Card

Happy Valentines Day... with a tutorial for you today to share my love...

Along with another slight variant of my Double Treat Flap Box . I actually don't know if my son likes liquorice... but he loves Caramel Nibbles... so I thought I had better make another of the Double Treat Flap Box... so that I could fill the large drawer with chocolate treats that I know he likes...

In the image above... see the box to the top left...  as this time round I didn't add any ribbon... as luckily the flap sits so nicely onto the box section... and so it doesn't actually need any ribbon to keep everything closed...

I have to admit that I prefer this simpler version... what about you?

Oh and click here for more details on the Valentine Pop Out Concertina Card shown...

Fancy making this Double Flap Box Treat Holder Box for yourself... well here you go...

Flap Panel

  • Cut card 26.5 x 10.5cm.
  • Score LANDSCAPE at 10.5 & 16cm
  • Valley Bone Fold
  • TIP - if you valley and mountain bone fold the score line that will sit on the top... then the fold is much neater and flatter... and so it doesn't need the ribbon...
  • Add ribbon if required to inside
Sleeve
  • Cut card to A4 long x 10cm
  • Score whilst LANDSCAPE at 4,14, 18 & 28cm
  • Mountain bone fold
  • Adhere using narrow tab
Large Drawer
  • Cut card 17.4cm square
  • Score at 1 1/2" on all 4 sides
  • Bone Fold & Dart on 2 opposing sides
  • Adhere to form open box
  • Poke a central hole and add a brad as a handle

Open Top Box

  • Cut card 12.5cm square
  • Score at 1/2" on all 4 sides
  • Bone Fold & Dart on 2 opposing sides
  • Adhere to form open box

Large Inner Section

  • Cut card to 16.5 x 9.9cm
  • Score LANDSCAPE at 1, 1.5, 2.5, 7, 8, 8.5, 9.5, 14, 15 & 15.5cm
  • Bone Fold M, M, V, V, M, M, V, V, M, M (where M= mountain/up and V = valley/down)

Small Inner Sections

  • Cut card to 11.5 x 8cm
  • Score at 4.5, 5.5, 6 & 7cm
  • Cut in half- PORTRAIT at 4cm
  • Bone Fold V, M, M, V

Decoration ... Then just decorate as required.

  • I used the retired 2017 Merry Music papers as so perfect... as these sheets have either "catherine wheel" shapes or music notes...
  • I used card mats 9.9cm square, Paper panels 9.4cm square and 26" of Ribbon
  • Be sure to add any ribbon on the inside of the Flap Panel before you adhere any boxes or other panels...
  • Adhere the Sleeve to the bottom section of the Flap Panel.. pop in the drawer... and then adhere the Open Top Box on top...
  • BIG TIP!!! Only apply glue on the back of the Open Top Box  to adhere the sections to the Flap Panel... if you apply glue to the central section of the Flap Panel and/or the back of the drawer... then you will not be open to open the drawer!!
  • White panels 8cm square on the front and 5cm square on the inside...
  • 4 spogs in the liquorice wheels just a 3/4" punched circle and a small punched heart (using a long retired punch)
  • Record is embossed on Basic Grey card using black embossing powder and die cut using Layered Circles dies
  • Centre of the record is a 1" punched circle plus a die cut heart (Sweet & Sassy dies) and a larger die cut heart on the inside...
  • Quickly snip the sentiment " You're My Favourite Song" to remove the word "song" ... and add eg HUSBAND as required...

Nested Label (Flat) Pop Up Front Step Panel Card

Warned you there were a few of these... this one being tailormade to the Nested Labels dies... again using the lovely Noble Peacock foiled papers... with Everything Amazing ...
Main card as per this tutorial but the front panel is slightly different... and I apologise if I don't get back to this card this week to add the details for that front part... but as I said... life is not my own this week... so I am pre-writing with short and sweet creative shares for a change...
I particularly love the usage of the Family Party stamp set to tell any family person that they are amazing! Thank you to our Jane for spotting that... brilliant idea!

Noble Peacock Mini Gift Bag

So I was asked for something small, simple, shiny and perfectly formed for slipping a note (cash!) in... This little bag ends up 1 3/4" wide x 1" high x 1" deep when finished... And as you can get 6 of these from one piece of 12x12 card or paper... they are very cost effective too!

So here you are... with a few crafty tips and the Recipe and a Tutorial along the way for you...
But before I start! A quick round up of news for August...

Get £25 more for free if you sign up with Stampin' Up! now... and an extra £8 to spend in September when you place your order... Click on the picture below to find out more...
But now back to today's creative share...  the Noble Peacock Speciality foiled papers and Foil Sheets are perfect for the job requested... as they are simply decorative with the perfect shine!
And suitable colour-wise & pattern-wise for those "difficult to craft for" men folk and teens in our lives too... which just keeps life simples!

Craft Spa Recipe
Cardor Paper 6"x 4"
Foil - 3.4cm Square
Dies - Stitched Shapes dies - 3cm Square die
Stamps - Itty Bitty Birthdays, Family Party
Ribbon - White Metallic Ribbon (3"), Navy Bakers Twine(7")

Craft Spa Tutorial
1. With panel PORTRAIT. Score at 1" (2.5cm)
2. With panel LANDSCAPE. Score at 1", 2 3/4", 3 3/4" & 5 1/2" (2.5, 7.5, 9.5 & 14cm)
3. With panel LANDSCAPE... with short section/bag base to the bottom... score from top (0) to about 2" (5cm) at 1/2" and 3 1/4".
4. Bone Fold all score lines
5. Cut out small end tab
6. Fold and adhere to close at side (folds flat nicely to do this)
7. Close off top as required (punch a small hole(s) if you want to close off with ribbon)
8. Decorate as required

Note that you definitely need to do those half score lines (pt.3) at the sides of the bags as these Noble Peacock papers are so lovely and thick!! But you can get away without doing these with thinner papers... as the bag will just push in at the sides without the aid of a score line! But I would still recommend these extra scores as then the sides are much neater!

And some extra tips for you...
(1) Clips are the easy way ( and by far the quickest) to close these off...

The new Mini Library Clips being amazingly perfect! But I only had one of these to use (which I yanked off a swap to be able to show you! Thanks Anne...I have put it back now!!!)
So everyone coloured the retired Gold Library Clips instead... and no-one used the ribbon and twine method (as per the SON version!) Far too Fiddly Faddly!

(2) The Stampin Blends are great for coloring your clips or ribbons to close these little bags... I used Dark Old Olive for both the ribbon and clips in these shots... though I highly recommend using the Granny Apple Green for your ribbons instead as they keep things much lighter and brighter! And still co-ordinating...

(3) The Noble Peacock papers are white on one side... and patterned/foiled on the other... so any edges facing you show up! Quickly resolved by a quick swipe of your Stampin Blends along the edge... Yes ... I did that!!! I assembled mine the wrong way round!
So then ... after explaining at length to stick the decoration on the front side - and so not reveal that white edge where the bag is stuck together (so the back side!) - and so this step not being required... in my haste to demo/assemble...  I did it again!!

Luckily no-one else did! But maybe you can tell now!!! How annoyed am I with myself!! Better make another one then...

Best Route Kinder wrap ...
Fable Friends "cute Geisha lipsalve" pillow box... cute outside and cute inside... and sorry not got the where-with-all (ie all the kit and sample!) to take another photo with the cute lip-salve...

On Stage 3D Swaps - the Final Batch... the Neutrals...

Saving the best for last!! LOL!!!

Seriously though... I do LOVE my Black & Whites... and these are made by my fellow friends and Jems teamies... so I have to say that!!

A beautiful Botanical Butterflies no glue belly banded box by Susannah Jepson...
The perfect size for a Tombow...

Although the original Drumsticks lolly is a bit tastier!

And a fabulous Foliage Frame die cut on half-a-PillowBox from Anna Pickering... greeting from Lots of Happy card kit (gosh... took me a while to find this one!!)
Full of lucky golden eggs... yum!

Though I have to admit to having now turning the sentiment round... as this way it sits up nicely in front of you...
Amazing what you can do with half a box!! Sealed with a brad...

Bit like my Selfie Stick holder idea for my Centrestage swaps... but without both halves and the acetate... and yes I forgot to confess... the gift was a selfie stick (with remote control!! Hence why the selfie stick is off to the side...)
