Trusty Tools #3 - Double Diorama Card

Third in my series of Fun or Fancy Fold cards created using the Trusty Tools dies and stamps along with the Trusty Tool box papers...

But before I start... the Bonus Days promotion is now live...

When you shop between 3 and 31 July and spend £45 you will earn a £4.50 coupon! One coupon/code for every £45 spent...
A code will be sent for each "coupon" by email right after a qualifying purchase has been made.  Then you can redeem them between 1 and 31 August.

So back to today's card... this time a Large Square (aka 6" Square) Double Layer Diorama card...

Sadly the retired Trusty Toolbox papers were an exclusive free-to-earn product during the Sale A Bration promotion last January and February... and so are not available to order any more...

But the images in the Trusty Tools stamps & dies bundle produce most of those tool images...

The tool-box is die cut using the Trusty Tool Box dies... greeting using the fabulous Wanted to Say dies... and silver background texture care of the Metal Plate embossing folder...

Trusty Tools #2... and 16 years already!

Before I share the next in my Trusty Tools series of cards....

Anyways... back to today's card...

Trusty Tools Diorama Card to say Happy Fathers Day...

First in a series of Fun or Fancy Fold cards created using the Trusty Tools dies and stamps along with the Trusty Tool box papers...

A simple Large Square (aka 6" Square) Diorama card...
Sadly the retired Trusty Toolbox papers were an exclusive free-to-earn product during the Sale A Bration promotion last January and February... and so are not available to order any more...

But the images in the Trusty Tools stamps & dies bundle produce most of those tool images... and you can die cut a pegboard background to achieve the same...

You could also use a small scrap off a grid sheet for the tape measure element! Fathes Day greeting from the Trusty Tools stamp set... and the tool-box is die cut using the Trusty Tool Box dies...

And had to smile to myself when using the "So Happy You're Here " greeting... as my father is always saying " If I am still here then"... so the greeting had to be used!! It certainly made him laugh out loud!!! FYI - both small greetings from the long retired Well Said stamp set

Enjoy Life & Waterfront... more cyclists...

Just following on from this card...  Yes I know its more than 9 months ago since I shared that one!! But I got somewhat waylaid at the time!! But back to it!

I thought it high time I shared these 2 variants before I get waylaid by other creative endeavours!! Of which there are numerous at the moment!!

Firstly the trio of cyclists at the top... I thought he needed friends... much more sociable!

And secondly... look close! A multitude of cyclists in the hills... care of the retired En Route stamp set ( which is still a keeper for me!)
Inspired by the wonderful artist, Lucy Pittaway and her fantastic Tour de Yorkshire cycling art work... such as this example...
Image result for lucy pittaway cycling in hills
Click here or on the picture to check out her work...

But be warned... Lucy's work just makes you smile... and the Yorkshire country side depicted in her Cycling Art series is marvellous! But there again I am so completely biased! As a true Yorkshire girl born and bred... and moved back!

But back to another card... finishing off with the one that Andrea made!
Boys tour on Fathers Day representation... all 12 of them! Another one on the card back to get the numbers right!

Happy Fathers Day.... Sailing Home

So a few tweaks happened to this Sailing Home Bridge U Fold card along the way...

Yachts on acetate... as described in Saturday's post here...  SO SO much better...
Sandy land mass on horizon and lighthouse... looks so much better than more Old Olive green in the original... and done as my husband is a fair weather sailor... so this Waterfront scene is definitely in sunny Greece, Turkey or Croatia! And not the wonderful but wet Lake District... So it has to be sand...

Happy Fathers Day label from Geared Up Garage... as it was there... though personally this is a bit large for the card for me... but it says what it needed to say! And I did do a bit of colouring with my Smoky Slate and Night of Navy Stampin Blends...
Base panel from embossed Balmy Blue too... speeded up the process in class... and looks nearly as good...

Garage Card Part 3... Happy Fathers Day... Dads!

So I finally finished off my own father's Fathers Day card... so a quick share of the finished garage interior... as well as another ...very different... interior later on for Andrea's Dad...

I kept it simple... just a favourite wished-for car, Jaguar F Type... in a favourite colour (that he would never be allowed!!)... with his personalised registration plate...
But I just know that he will LOVE this card!!

Click here for the original share(s) with the directions...
And Happy Fathers Day wherever you and your family may be...

Images used (for personal use only!) care of a Google Search for Jaguar F Type... and "personalised registration plate" - which came up with many sites that physically produce registration plates and so you can enter the letters and numbers you want and an image is generated... easy!

And before I go... here is Andrea's for her Dad...
A wonderful amalgam of things for boats & gardening along with a crowded bench & lots of tools... this hobby makes being so wonderfully personal with our cards so easy!!! And that always keeps the men folk happy!!

The Garage Card Part 2

So this is how I finished off the Garage card that I started and shared here last Friday...

Loving the Barn Door doors and wrought iron hardware! So glad I purchased this bundle... especially as the stamps and the dies are carrying over to the new 2018-19 Annual Catalogue... though remember that the current 10% bundle discounts do not carry over... so purchase now if you want any of the current stamp & die/punch bundles with 10% discount...

Back to the card... just an added trimmed Soft Suede panel (14.8W x 15.8cmH) to the back.... so the final card fits in a 16.5cm square envelope... plus an extra trimmed Hardwood stamped panel (14 x 5cm) on top of that... They end up sitting really flush... so it is a very neat finished project... This method will be used again...
I left the inside the same... ie really simple... as I want everyone to be able to finish off the decoration with their husband/father/son ... or even daughter in mind (as I know one will be used as a Driving Test congratulations card)... and I know there will be a few Sheds, Potting Sheds, Man Caves... and even Craft Sheds too!

Mine will either have a super sporty car front with a car registration number personalised for my Dad... or a photo of one of his first cars... which will be a difficult choice as he is  - and has always been- a car-loving-man... I could even do a car collage stretching over all 3 inside faces!!
Trimming the extra panels to the apex shape is easy enough... just mark the centre point of the larger panel (at the top) at 7.4cm...lay your gatefold card blank on top...and draw in the 2 lines from either top edge of the gatefold up to the centre mark... and then cut...

Then you can use this to draw and then cut the smaller stamped panel shape...

Though it is even easier for my ladies... as they have a couple of templates to work with....
So the base card is just a 10.5cm x A4L piece of Soft Suede card scored LANDSCAPE at 7.4cm from either side (and I think 4" x 11", scored at 2 3/4" LANDSCAPE from either side from US Letter would be closest - with extra 5 1/2" W x 6 1/4" H  plus 5 1/4" W x 2" H panels... and mark the centre/top at 2 3/4" for your apex)

And the Basic Black panel is 8.5 x 13.2cm ( US Letter 4 3/4" x 3 1/4") to line up with the Barn Door size...

Barn Doors all stamped using Soft Suede ink on Soft Suede cardstock... and then sponged around the edges to add more definition... Though I could have used Wood Textures papers as they were part of the class kit!! I just (stupidly) completely forgot as the creative moment took me... doh...

And a Basic Black stamped greeting from retiring Guy Greetings finishes the card off... still the best male sentiments stamp set ever...

Urban District DAD day...

Whilst the Urban District stamp set was out for my Blog Hop make last Saturday...  I had a few other ideas with those DAD letters... well I think DAD day works as an alternative for Father's Day!!?

The Y being made from an upside down top part of the A over part of a left hand straight from the D...
All set on a 14.8cm Large Square card.... (about 5 7/8" Square for US readers)

Colour combi... Basic Grey, Island Indigo, Delightful Dijon and Tip Top Taupe...
Though I had to tweak my original idea... which was DIY DAD DAY... nice configuration of the 9 letters... which did just fit nicely on the square too... but too many Ds going on down that left hand side!! And no room for my Nailed It! tools to decorate... Though I have to admit it is a shame I didn't just snap a quick photo before I changed my plan...

Jems Blog Hop - Something for the Men!

Hello and welcome to The Craft Spa blog with Amanda Bates ...

Today is the Jems Team Monthly Blog Hop... so please join us and travel around for lots of inspiration for the men in our lives...
I couldn't resist making an even simpler A6 U Fold Card for Father's Day... seeing as it is my Card of the Week! Click here for my Tutorial... though note that this version just uses a 3cm high piece of Whisper White for that front section
These cards are super quick and simple to make... but a real WOW in the flesh... a must try girls!

So the first few photos are the card using Urban Underground papers and Urban District stamps... and I was busy steering away from the Delightful Dijon... but then this happened...
And hey... I think I prefer it that way after all!!  Not what I was expecting... Nice pop of colour... and great for a class design as everyone will be able to use their man's favourite colour on the day...

But then I went to write this blog post.... and horror of horrors... no more Urban Underground papers left in stock!!! Though panic not class-ladies... I have quite a few here for our classes this month...

So I had a quick re-make for you using Serene Scenery papers...
Which one do you prefer???
I then went on with quite a few more ideas for those letters... but more on those another day! Or you will never get to hop along...

Time to say goodbye and pass you onto Sarah....
Or if you are going backwards (and yes quite a lot of people do) ... then I will pass you back to Allie...
