Another Something Borrowed Tri Fold Mini Album

Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 005

Following on from the popularity of my white Tri Fold Mini Album the other week – I  made another...

Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 010

This was done so that I could photo some step by steps and produce the tutorial – but  as I was also demonstrating the album in a class situation… I got carried away and made up the new album as I went along… oops…

So I need to go back to the drawing board and make another & remember to photo this time!! Though it may turn out to be a good thing… as I am not sure you would have been able to see anything with the Blackberry Bliss colour I had selected for this version!! As I know that some of you are wanting the tutorial - thank you for your patience in this matter!!!

Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 016

Doesn’t it look scrummy in the Blackberry Bliss! It is also slightly more hard-wearing too….

Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 001

This is exactly the same as the original version – apart from the Blackberry Bliss outer – and 2 more details on the front cover…

Firstly – I didn’t have another roses die cut panel – as I had pinched it for using as a mask for sponging through – so I just used it as a mask for sponging through!!! I wonder how long this little mask is going to last!!

Secondly – I had no more Artisan Embellishments to use on the front – so I used the last 2 roses I had after making my big LOVE card  - one was daubed strongly with Blackberry Bliss ink (and left to dry for days!) – the other was left as Blushing Bride… finished off with a large pearl into the centre…

SU! Products Used

Berry Basket of Ferrero Rocher & Lindor chocolates

Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 050

As long term followers of my blog will know – my mother is rather partial to a Ferrero Rocher or two!  So I had a plan for a project for my mother’s chocolates for Mothers Day.

So I got my Berry Basket die out – and set to work!

But the plan didn’t work – it looked just as I had envisaged – but it was not fit for function – which is code for … it fell over!! So a plan B was called for – with about 10minutes to go!!

Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 047

So here it is… a simple Berry Basket full of Ferrero Rochers – and a few Lindor balls too – just for a bit of variety this year!

The decoration on the sides was by using the Rose die cut (from the Artisan Embellishments kit) as a mask – and sponging what I thought was Sahara Sand through – but I had actually used Crumb Cake by mistake!

Add a bit of Sahara Sand Lace Trim – and there you have it – a simple but pretty little basket. Fit for my mum!

Now Plan A will be revisited… as it is so perfect for my mother … maybe for Easter…time will tell!

Big but Clean & Simple LOVE card

Artisan Embellishments Flowers LOVE Feb 2015 by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (1)

More from my All Day Workshop…. you can’t get much more CAS than this… but there have been a lot of oohs, squeals and WOWs over this card! That being said it is a large card… an A5 long card… ie nearly 12” wide and just over 4” high for my imperial buddies!

Artisan Embellishments Flowers LOVE Feb 2015 by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (2)

Now having bought the Artisan Embellishments kit to get the flower ribbon to do one particular thing…. I had used something else to do that thing! So I looked at the stunning flowers ribbon and knew I had to come up with something else!

Artisan Embellishments Flowers LOVE Feb 2015 by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (5)

And so a matching card to go with yesterdays mini book came to mind…..

Artisan Embellishments Flowers LOVE Feb 2015 by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (6)

It particularly works as the class kit included a piece of the wonderful Canvas Creations… just gives the background a great texture… making this a card very special with incredible soft dimension…. so tactile! Both the flower letters & the background…

Artisan Embellishments Flowers LOVE Feb 2015 by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (7)

That being said… as a girl that is not into pinks….. I began to call this the Marmite card… I couldn’t work out whether I loved it or hated it!! Luckily everyone else LOVED it! So what do I know…..

So how are the letters done… Simples…. cut rose ribbon into following lengths, apply a glue dot to the back of each rose and arrange on the card! Lovely and quick…

4 roses x 3; 3 roses x 1; 2 roses x 3 and 1 rose x 1

L is 4 down & 2 across

V is 4 down the left and 3 up the right

E is 4 down. 2 across at top & bottom and the single in the middle

And the O is the gorgeous wreath from the Your Perfect Day stamp set. Hand-cut and 3Dd onto the card….

Think this will be my Parents Wedding Anniversary card this year….

Something Borrowed Tri Fold Mini Book

Artisan Embellishments & Something Borrowed TriFold Mini Book by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (1)

Staying on the projects made at my various workshops run last week. This was another project we made at my lovely All Dayer on Saturday.

A mini book using the Something Borrowed papers and featuring the Artisan Embellishments kit.

Though I had to laugh as I had to own up for my determination to use the Artisan Embellishments kit….. see that gorgeous die cut rose panel on the front cover… yes for those… but I could only use one of them in the project…. the other one was for another use!! But more on that another day….

Artisan Embellishments & Something Borrowed TriFold Mini Book by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (4)

This project is a re-make of a mini book I had designed previously – one that has always been one of our favourites over this part of the Stampin’ Up! world  – but in these papers – well I was in heaven! And luckily so was everyone else!

Add the new Our Perfect Day and co-ordinating For the New Two stamp sets – and what a perfect gift for a Wedding – or for a special Wedding Anniversary…though the JUST married sentiment would have to be changed for an anniversary!

And I have to own up to particularly loving the stamped and cut-in-half doilies on the outer page sections. They lift up so you can still slide a photo under if needs be…. such a delicate addition!

Artisan Embellishments & Something Borrowed TriFold Mini Book by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (11)

Now I am hoping that I may have some more photos of this book to share in the near future … as everyone made the outer book cover in different colours as I thought it was better made from the slightly more robust coloured cardstock… so – instead of the Whisper White in my sample. We had Blackberry Bliss (wow!) , Blushing Bride (dreamy) and Rich Razzleberry (rich!)– all of which looked stunning – but – silly me - I let them all go without taking any photos!!

Large Painted Petals Wreath card

Painted Petals by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (13)

And here is the last card of the Painted Petals series we made this week. A large but straightforward 7 1/2” Square card for special ladies for Mothers Day or Birthday – or any occasion really!

So I used the fabulous – but often overlooked -  “leaves image” in the Crazy About you stamp set. And as it is a solid image…yup you guessed it – we were all kissing again! This time with Wild Wasabi on the I Love Lace background stamp & Pistachio Pudding on the leaf.

Painted Petals by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (18)

8 leaves – and a bit of hand cutting & finger squeezing to give definition later – and you have a great wreath. The leaves were just arranged around a circle which was just drawn around the outside of the largest circle framelit.

Tip for you though – make sure you stick the end leaf over the narrow stem part. ( we all naturally arrange it the other way ie placing the narrow stem under the leaf – which is fine for a dry run… but do the sticking the other way – as it is a lot simpler and faster! This will mean nothing as you read this – but it does makes total sense when you are doing it!

And the flowers are again just hand cut & defined using a thick mat and embossing stylus– mainly just the trio from the 5 flower image as they are the easier part to cut out…. I did actually start with cutting out the full 5 part flower and leaves image – but then I realised there would be an hour of cutting instead of the 15 minutes of this version – looked great but that 3/4 hour had to be cut!

Painted Petals by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (24)

The Mothers day wording is also from the Crazy About You stamp set. I LOVE that you can place the HAPPY next to the separate MOTHERS Day on the block and just stamp away. Though I have to admit that I cut away a tiny bit of surrounding plastic to achieve the exact same spacing between the words…

And this is die cut using the great shape in the Project Life Framelits set – just perfect for the banner shape needed…

And all finished off with a bit of simple stamping inside the card…

Oh and I have a few other variants to share of this card tomorrow….
