Another White Christmas card

Wonderful Wreath, Santa, Amanda Bates, The Craft Spa 943

Another very quick share for today…

Just found another card I made but hadn’t yet shared…. A very simple little scene using a pre-made note card and the fabulous White Christmas stamp set.

But I am afraid that the stamp set is not available to buy for much longer (only till 5 January 2015)

My set is definitely a keeper… I have really REALLY enjoyed creating with this stamp set along with the perfect accompanying Holiday Home stamp set … which is also (BIG SNIFF HERE!!) not available after 5th Jan….. and definitely a keeper too!! That one is particularly precious to me….. gorgeous houses…and Santa & his sleigh too

DL White Christmas Snow Banks Scene Card with a How To

White Christmas, Holiday Home DL Scene 001

Just when I thought I had finished with White Christmas I found a card that I haven’t yet shared. Apologies for the bad photos recently  – but I broke one of my special light-box lights last week…. and I hope that Santa has a new set for me in that sleigh!!! Edited to add… Oops I had actually shared this before… so why couldn’t I find the photo I took before!!

This is a simple DL card that I made as a practice card for the BIG card shown below! Now when I posted the big card  I was later asked how I had stamped the snow banks…and I promised some more details when I re-ran the class …. so here is a little step by step with pictures for you….

There are other ways of doing this… but  I decided to do it this way as I had completely new crafters making the cards so other methods were more likely to go wrong – or need the Stamp A Ma Jig/equipment that they don’t have and don’t need with their photopolymer stamp set…. and also as the same method could be used for another part of the card….

White Christmas Snow Bank Cutting 001 (2)

1. Stick the paper onto the white card mat leaving about 2” loose at the bottom ( ie no glue at the bottom !!!) You could also use temporary adhesive – but  I didn’t want to introduce another type of glue for my new crafters…

White Christmas Snow Bank Cutting 002

2 Ink up & stamp image to bottom of paper.

White Christmas Snow Bank Cutting 003

3. Lift up the un-glued bottom part of the paper & cut just below/on the black sky line. Oops a gap in the tree trunk!!!

White Christmas Snow Bank Cutting 004

4. Draw in the tree trunk (s) using the thin end of a Basic Black marker pen… Yay…no gap!

5. Now you can stick the bottom of the paper down….

6. Same method to extend the skyline between the 2 lots of tree images on the larger panel. Just draw a line in to join the images together using the thin end of your black marker pen…. and cut as necessary….

And as I know some of you are wondering…. yes my new crafters all achieved the big card!!! And they were all fabulous….. Even my completely new crafter who came last minute to the last session of my trio of Beginner workshops. Didn’t HE do well!!! We did laugh at this being his first card…… in at the deep end or what!!

And … come back later for something awful that happened to the big card…. less than 24 hours before my class!!! I dread to think what words I uttered before I cried….. You would not credit it…… and I have some fellow demo’s blog post on that day that I have to blame!!! All will be revealed….

Holiday Home meets White Christmas – a Simpler Version!

Holiday Home & White Christmas DL Card, Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (1)
Here is a simpler version of a card previously posted & much visited!! This is a straightforward DL version – suitable for batch making and posting out!!
The previous one was a BIG 8” Flap version intended to personally hand over and to sit on the mantelpiece of someone very special!

I guess you can spot the similarity!! And yes the door is open and the windows & lights are glazed ( care of my Crystal Effects which seems to be constantly at my crafting side!)

Holiday Home– and a How To…

Amanda Bates, The Craft Spa, 076

Just a quick share of some other clean & simple projects using the Holiday Home stamp set & co-ordinating Homemade Framelits.  And with stars! Albeit tiny ones…

I was asked for a “how did she do that” so … without further ado… apart from the MERRY card…

These were all made by sponging Soft Sky, then Lost Lagoon through a rectangular aperture ( I have a plastic sheet with the rectangular hole all cut out & ready to go!).

I popped a punched 1” circle as a 2nd mask where I wanted the moon…

Then a quick stamp of the Gorgeous Grunge small splats in Soft Sky to add a bit of texture /snow effect.

Then the masks were removed.

And finished off by stamping Silver Encore stars, Soft Sky tiny snowflakes, Memento Ink or Basic Grey Santa & sleigh and wording.

Simples…

Apologies for the bad photo of this first one! Not only is this the simplest but this was also the favourite so I couldn’t leave it out!!… Love this wording – which is from the Wondrous Wreath stamp set. And big thanks to Jean for putting this wording on her version of the card in class - I liked it so much I had to quickly make another!!

White Christmas & Holiday Home meets Wonderful Wreath– 8” Flap Card

Amanda Bates, The Craft Spa, 018
Now this is a BIG card… all 8” square of it when closed & 16” wide when open…. Definitely one for the mantelpiece of someone special.
Now this is a project format I have shared before… quite a few times actually… but the previous versions were all mini books. But I had a mixed class this week – half being Cardmakers and half being Scrapbookers – so I set too to do projects that could suit both camps … and I am so glad that I took on that challenge – as I really LOVE this card! Especially that All is Calm paper used in the centre section – looks like lights shining down from those twinkling Confetti Stars punch stars…almost surreal!
See here for a previous mini book version & tutorial. I loved this card so much I didn’t even make up a mini book version! And guess what…nor did anyone else!
Here’s the view of the closed card – along with its belly band & wreath ….

Another view of the inside…

Now off to do a re-make of this…. it is about to shrink slightly in the spirit of being more frugal!!! For you Zoe!!

Holiday Home for a New Home

Amanda Bates, The Craft Spa, North Yorkshire 018

Following on from the Christmas version I posted yesterday…here is a New Home version that I needed to quickly make for good friends just settling into a New Home. Delighted to say that this accompanied some SU! crafting goodies – so yes Alison… I will quickly move onto some cards using the Wonderful & Wondrous Wreath very soon!!!

As it was SO important that I got Alison’s crafting goodies off in the post quickly….. I made myself keep it very Clean & Simple – but I did get the chance to use my new FAVOURITE background stamp….. I Love Lace…oh yes I do!!! It is SO beautiful stamped in Whisper White craft ink on any cardstock colour – albeit very subtle when stamped on the more subtle colour ways…. I think everyone has picked up my display cards using it…there is almost a texture to feel….

Holiday Home for Christmas & Quarterly Team Training Swap

Holiday Home, Homemade Holiday, Amanda Bates, The Craft Spa, 2014 (1)
Hello! I’m back… ready to share lots of projects for Christmas…and not for Christmas too!! Didn’t really know where to start today as (gulp!) I have nearly 3 months worth of projects to share with you… so decided I would start with something for Christmas.
This was my team training swap card from last Saturday… I had a fabulous day amongst such a great group of girls … great training projects, inspiration stations and presentations… so I learnt lots…was inspired lots…and laughed lots!!! And the rendition of Happy Birthday to me was like a choir in a cathedral!!! A really tuneful bunch…. yes seriously…. But I am SO SO  glad that the “threatened bumps” didn’t materialise!!!!
Holiday Home, Homemade Holiday, Amanda Bates, The Craft Spa, 2014 (3)
I  first have to do a shout out for my helpers Moya & Hilda for the production of these swaps. It is so much more fun producing bulk cards when you have good company… and so much quicker too!! You will never know how much it is appreciated!!
And then… I have to apologise to my fellow swappers for 2 things. Firstly that I was SO slow in the swap line – but I really did have to pass my swap on with an open door!!! You don’t snip all those little doors so that they will open and then pass them on shut so no-one realises!!!! And secondly that I used a retired punch to punch my wreath out!! Yes it is the 3/8” punch from the retired Itty Bitty punch trio…oops…did that without realising….
My favourite stamp set in the Autumn Winter catalogue has to be the Holiday Home stamps and matching Home made Holidays Framelits. Not only do I “have a thing about houses”… but these can be used all year round and  I have a definite lack of crafting goodies for New Home cards! As well as having wanted a Reindeer & Sleigh image for ages!!! So I was a happy “camper” when I saw these….
Photopolymer stamps – so such great value… as well as being bundled up together with 15% off too… Just look at how many stamps you get…. lots of play factor…..
And I have since realised that these Framelits make great Tags too – either as house shapes  - or just snip the chimneys off for a fabulous tag shape – 3 of them….
And here is the open door!!! Come back tomorrow for a New Home version…..
