Avant Garden Palm Trees Scene & Tutorial

Finally finished off a card project I started a while back!  As soon as I came up with the Avant Garden Palm Trees idea as shared here and here... the "daydream" stamp from Designer Tee and a hammock between palm trees beckoned me... but I had to go and create for my booked classes instead... so it went off to the side...

So today I grabbed my Serene Scenery paper stack and got to work. Love that the sky & clouds paper works so well for sea.... and that the dandelions paper works so well for a sunset sky... don't know why I didn't see these until today! But I am off to purchase some more now... makes cardmaking scenes so simple!
Stamped black sentiments both from Designer Tee (yours for free with a £45 order until Friday!) Have to admit that this is my most used Sale A Bration set...and not a T-shirt in sight (yet!)

Palm Trees stamped and given the Touches of Texture treatment as already shared here...

Hammock just a small piece of folded stripey ribbon with Linen Thread stapled along the back so I could attach to the trees (yes a few sewn hand-stitches would have been better... but I was a woman on a mission...and I can't sew!!)
Interestingly the card format I used changed suddenly from my original plan... as I saw this super Centre Box Card by Liza last night and had to make a version of the fold (without the extra box part as not needed on this occasion)... so thanks to Liza for immediately inspiring me to make this.... a super but simple fancy fold.... And it all folds to fit into a Medium Crumb Cake envelope (or a standard C6 envelope would work too)
My measurements are different as from our A4 card...
So this card is 10.5 x 21cm Thick Whisper White.
Scored when LANDSCAPE (long side at top!) at 3.5; 7; 14 and 17.5cm.

Paper Panels are 3x10cm (x4 for Fronts & Sides) and 6.5x10cm for the Back Panel.
Bottom Panel is Thick Whisper White 2.3 x 14cm & DSP 2 x 13.5cm

Enjoy! I did... and I don't think this is the last you will see of this card fold...
And remember...Sale A bration finishes this Friday 31st March... and that both Avant Garden and Designer Tee are stamps you can earn for free with a £45 order... full set pictures here...

Watercolor Pencils #3 - Mediterranean Moments Cafe Scene...

The Watercolor Pencils and Mediterranean Moments are a match made in heaven for me! Along with the Watercolor Paper and the Aquapainters this time...

Can't say I am renowned for my watercolouring skills - but even I can make a half-decent job using these pencils..!!  And more importantly for me... really enjoy it too!!

And I will admit.. I love love love this little scene... but there again I have spent so much of my time on holidays in France over the years... it would be very hard for me to not love this set!
Things to spot here.... terms all made up by me... though there are probably some official watercolouring jargon terms for them too...

(1) Light, Medium and Dark Colouring/Shading... extra light touch for walls (Early Espresso) and pavement (Basic Gray)... medium touch for tablecloth and harder touch for seat cushions (both in Bermuda Bay)

(2) Spot Colouring... spot the geraniums in the planter under the window... just little spots of colour drawn direct with a hard touch of the Real Red pencil over the previously watercoloured (Old Olive) greenery... and no water add to those spots...

(3) Gel Pen Highlighting - impossible to see on the photos... but I added highlights to the chairs, windows and table legs using my (retired but never far away from me!) Signo gel pen... (though I do have a few gel pens left in stock....)

(4) Sale A Bration promotional Designer Tee stamp set greeting used... just the right size and font! (Yours for free with a £45 order until 31st March) Can't believe how much I have used this set... without a T-shirt in sight so far...

Watercolor Pencils #1 - Inside the lines

This is one of the projects we created in my Watercolor Pencil Intro class I am running this month....

Just £20 for half day (£25 full day) including a pack of Watercolor Pencils (RRP £14.50) if you are interested in joining us... next session Wed 22nd March... and happy to arrange an alternative date for 3 or more..

The Sale A Bration Inside the Lines Speciality paper is perfect to try out your pencils and then have something lovely enough to cut up to make a card later. And you could make 9 of these from just one 12" Square piece of paper ... as the panel is a 4" Square...
Though I couldn't bring myself to colour all the paper sheet in... and I don't think it is necessary...

And a few tips for you....

I don't use the Aqua Painter when I am colouring on paper... too much water means the paper will tear! But the Blender Pen works well... and the Wink of Stella pen works brilliantly. Adding that subtle touch of sheen as you blend the colour out....
Hard to see... but a very subtle shadow is added around the images using the Pacific Point watercolor pencil... but more on that technique another day...

After colouring  - and drying for a while!!! - the panel is cut down to 2" squares. ( It will tear if not dry!!! Which I was very good at demonstrating the other day!)

The big bee on the right is from Dragonfly Dreams... which is a great set for lots of Watercolor Pencil techniques!! Do remember to only add a very light touch of pencil on those wings though....
Remember that the Sale A  Bration exclusive Inside the Lines paper is free with a £45+ order until 31st March
As indeed is this Glimmer Paper I used for the glittery Hello You hello...

Right off now to make more Easter makes for my classes next week... too much fun!!

Cupcakes & Carousels Pop & Twist Card for Fancy Fold Friday

Gosh I thought I had shared these Cupcakes and Carousels makes ages ago... apologies girls!

This card fold will seem familiar as I re-made the card for classes using Cupcakes & Carousels as some of my ladies did not want to make a Valentine card  using the Sending in Love papers- so this was an easy alternative as just a different 6x6 paper stack...

And for those of you thinking out loud.... yes I re-made this one before I worked out the 6 panel version... tutorial for that one here ... a remake now would definitely have more panels...
Love the simplicity of the front of this card.... so easy care of the fantastic Cupcakes & Carousels embellishment pack- of which I used the beautiful greeting frame, the bow, the bakers twines and the sequins here... along with the Balloon Bouquet Punch for my balloons

Cupcakes & Carousels White Gift Box Gift Card Holder

Another quick easy make using the Large White Gift Boxes.... making up the box as described here

But this time I have turned the box into a Gift Card Holder by adding a simple insert... using the method described here (in points 13-20) but with a 10.5 x 6cm (4 1/8" x 2 3/8") piece of card onto a 7.4cm (2 7/8") square base piece

Using the lovely Cupcakes & Carousels 6x6 Paper Stack... and a few bits from the Cupcakes & Carousels embellishment pack. Both of which I highly recommend. This was a paper stack that grew on me very quickly as I used it as the colours are lovely, bright & fresh .... and the embellishments make life (and decoration) easy! In fact I have just bought some more.....
 Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit
And the Sale A Bration promotional stamps Any Occasion (Yours for free with a £45 order) came in very useful for decorating my banners on the back and insert....
Image result for stampin up any occasion image
I just needed to "straighten" my stamps slightly to make them work as I wanted... easiest way to do that being to lay them on the paper as required and then quickly stick the clear block on top
Also used...
2" Circle Punch
