Signs on Sunday Share ... with a Smile!

Couldn't resist sharing these altered sign variants with you today... these colours make me happy!!! Much brighter and merrier... but  Click here for the original version... These use the Twinkle Twinkle papers for the starry sky... which annoyingly I forgot that I had in the class kit when I made the original!! But hey...time has rectified that oversight...

So here we have Caroline, Lisa and Dianne's signs... gorgeous... and we missed you Elaine... but I know you want to see these sooner rather than later!
Again the signs being simple to create once the stamping, die cutting and colouring were all done... using the stamps and dies in Farmhouse Christmas, Merry Christmas to All  and Winter Woods

Making good use of the Festive Farmhouse papers... Twinkle Twinkle papers too... and the Festive Farmhouse embellishments... which were finger daubed with the Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint...

And how is this for a happy smiley face!! This is Dianne who had her first day papercrafting with me last Wednesday... so we had lots of happy faces and ecstatic oohs and aahs too... Definitely makes me love my job!!! And didn't she do well!
So last but not least is Dianne's sign... with the introduction of the Dashing Deer too... and lots and lots of glitter... love it!
And a quick last word about the products I used here... Most of the dies are on the "soon going out of stock "list! So please don't delay if you want the products... just click here to read all about these on yesterday's post...

Farmhouse Christmas Bakers Box Light for 3D Thursday

Couldn't resist one of these Bakers Box decor lights for my All Day Christmas Class... very simple in concept... with a battery powered candlelight behind the removable house... but trickiness came upon assembly... as...

(1) electric candlelight needed specific positioning so you could reach the switch to turn it on and off
(2) the house needed a lift so you could see it above the bottom/side of the Bakers box aperture
(3) the tree to the right hand side also needed a tab to hold it upright in position...
House and trees from Farmhouse Christmas.... and also used Twinkle Twinkle papers again for background... and Rooted in Nature for fir trees...

Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint  (applied with Finger Sponge Dauber) to make the Farmhouse Christmas "noel" Embellishment all silvery and shimmery...

Wednesday WOW... Farmhouse Christmas Box Frame Light Decor

And this did indeed WOW...

And I do have to admit to this... maybe... being my most favourite project I have created ever... it certainly made me very happy when I had finished it... and turned on the lights... And it will be coming out every Christmas from now on...
Box Frame from Aldi when they were doing a special the other week... but any other brand would work! External 25cm (nearly 10"). Internal 21.5cm (8 1/2") Though do note that the Aldi frames have the glass at the back... so it had to be removed totally for this project... whereas other makes have the glass at the front... so I could have left it in...

Lights from Poundland... 10 bright white light wire string with AA battery box version used here... though a coin box version would have been easier... but funnily enough the work round was quite good, tidy and invisible in the end!
Twinkle Twinkle papers used for the night sky as just so perfect for the job!! I would really love a whole 12 sheet pack of this pattern!!! Though quite a lot of the other patterns in this pack actually do work for Christmas too...

Again lots of  use of the stamps and dies in Farmhouse Christmas, Merry Christmas to All ,Winter Woods and Rooted in Nature... with a lot of Stampin Blends action for colouring...
And my favourite detail... spot the merry to the top left... this starts off life as a flat grey embellishment... which was great... but a bit of Sponge Dauber and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint action later... and you end up with a lovely silvery and shimmery embellishment instead! Little detail... Big effect!

Though it may be difficult to see how silvery... and how well it shimmers in the photo!! So you may just have to trust me ...and try it!
And yes this project is available to create in my workshops throughout November & December... just book in now to avoid disappointment!!! Which is code for I only have a certain number of the box frames left in stock... though I can always get more!! Half Day (2 1/2 hour) for £20... or free with a £65 Stampin' Up! order

Farmhouse Christmas Sign on Sunday...

Beginning to share some of my recent makes for my September All Day Christmas Crafts class... some of which will be being made around here in October and November too.... as they are too nice not to be made by my other class ladies too...

But before I start... don't forget that today is the last day of the World Cardmaking Day Sale... just go here to check out the items and order on-line...or click here for more details...
So back to the creative share... Today is an altered sign for Home Decor that we made... simple to create once the stamping, die cutting and colouring were all done... using the stamps and dies in Farmhouse Christmas, Merry Christmas to All  and Winter Woods

Making good use of the Festive Farmhouse papers... and the Festive Farmhouse embellishments... which were finger daubed with the Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint...

Starting off with the "joy"...
Then the little trees to go either side of the door... a favourite little detail!
And 3 little twinkly stars to finish...
Finished off with the lovely new 5/8" Striped Burlap Ribbon...

Just 2 little things I would change (and that I told my girls to change on the day)... I would use Real Red for "christmas" and Mossy Meadow for the "at"

And oh the "at" word is put together using the Brushwork alphabet set...

Simple on Saturday - Beautiful Blue Blizzard

My lovely friend, fellow demonstrator and teamie Kate Martin CASEd these Beautiful Blizzard cards of mine shared here... and she die cut some blue (non SU!) foil snowflakes.... which gave me an idea....

And I had pulled together my 20 Shimmer Paint Uses document... which in turn made me create my little Pool Party Shimmery Stampin Spot... both of which you can find by clicking here...
Put these 2 ideas together and this is what you get... though I do have to admit that I should have made a Balmy Blue Shimmer Stampin Spot as then the colours would have all gone together better! Job for another day!

So thank you Kate for inspiring the blue snowflake twist to my card... which I achieved simply by colouring in my die cut snowflakes with my Night of Navy Stampin Blends - some in Dark and some in Light to get the 2 shades....
But a quick note... colouring in all the foil panel before die-cutting wouldn't work so well!! The Blends work well on a small area such as one snowflake but not a large area... as they tend to "split"

And oh! There is a 3rd twist to this card variation... I used Frost White Shimmer Paint for the random snowflakes on the Night of Navy card blank... instead of the Champagne Mist used previously...

Wonder if you can see the difference... Champagne shimmer and sparkle to left and Frost White pearlescent sheen to right...

Top 20 Uses for Shimmer Paint....

Something a bit different for you today...

As a team of demonstrators... we come together (via our Facebook team page) and share many a project  - or business tip - or just something that has worked for us...

But we have just started something new... and that is to share ideas for using a particular product... This can be general - such as uses of embossing folders- or specific - such as project ideas for a particular stamp set...

So when it was my turn I decided to focus on the returning Shimmer Paints... which are in the Autumn Winter catalogues... as I do think these are little pots of delight!
I quickly write down all the uses I had for them last time around... and then I was off on Google for about an hour (or maybe 2) researching... and found some more great uses... until I had 20 of them!

I did mean to produce some of my own samples for every use I had on my list... but time was really not on my side so (in some cases) I used images from the demos blogs where I had landed! But unfortunately I forgot to make a note of where I was at the time!! But if they used watermarks on their photos... then you can see where I went... thank you ladies...

So now it is time to share my research with you... of 20 Top Uses and Other Tips on using Shimmer Paints...

Just click on the 4 pictures below to download the 4 pages of the pdf file...

Though do read on for a pictorial on Item 17... using Stampin Spots to make your own shimmery ink pad... in any colour....

Oh and don't forget to buy your Shimmer Paint... Live in the UK? Click here to go straight to the Shimmer Paint Online Store page... and/or here for the Mini Spritzers (2 in a pack) ... and here for Stampin Spots blank ink pads... but remember to add my current Host code 2MVEHBBW to get yourself a card & gift from me!

And whilst you are at it... do remember the Clearance Rack was only updated yesterday...

PS do feel free to email me for a copy of the full pdf document if you have any problems...

Coloured Shimmer Paint Ink Pad Tutorial
Mix on a Stampin Spot for more long term use. This is an experimental at this stage! My Spot has only been primed a few days…and is working fine... so I don’t know how long it will last/be usable yet!! But it will be great for class use… even if I need to re-ink everytime…

1. Pick up a Stampin Spot, Frost White Shimmer Paint and an ink refill ( I used Pool Party)
2. Add a drop of Shimmer Paint ... less is more!!
You will need to “push” the coloured ink into the felt later on… so don’t apply too much Shimmer Paint… which I did for this photo!!! As I had made my ink pad ... then realised I hadn't photoed the next 2 steps so I did it again... and oops!! It really sat on top!!!
3. Add a few drops of coloured ink
4. Mix it up ...
5. "Push down" into the felt of the Stampin Spot...
6. Ink up stamp as desired... and stamp....
7. Gorgeous shimmery Pool Party Beautiful Blizzard snowflakes... and I can't wait to use it with the  background stamp...
Gorgeous!

Shimmery Beautiful Blizzard for Merry Monday...

A simple little duo of cards for you today to introduce 2 new up and coming products in the Autumn Winter Catalogue...

First up ... I am delighted to say that Shimmer Paint is back!! This time it will be available in 4 colours... returning Frost White & Champagne Mist and 2 new colours Vegas Gold and Bright Copper...
For those of that missed this product the first time round... you are going to love Shimmer Paint... it is THE way to add a subtle shine and shimmer to almost anything... without the mess of glitter! Daub it! Spritz it! Paint it! Stamp It! A lot more about this small but wonderful range coming soon... though read on for how I used it for these cards...

Secondly... we have a new snowflake die and stamp set coming your way.... Beautiful Blizzard stamps and Blizzard Thinlits dies...

And I am delighted to report that the die worked wonderfully - using Champagne Foil - with the Precision Base Plate... and the Die Brush... no poking necessary... yay! And look at all those snowflakes - in 6 different sizes - in one pass... Fabulous!
So back to the cards...
First up the Night of Navy card blank... so you can see the Shimmer Paint on the card blank...

I used the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint... which gives a beautiful shiny and subtle warm silvery glow wherever it is used...

I gave the bottle a good shake to mix up all the glittery goodness... and used a Sponge Dauber to pick up the ink from the lid... dabbed it onto my rubber stamp... and stamped fairly quickly so it didn't dry out... And note that the ink dries quickly on the card too...
I found that I could re-apply 3-4 times onto the stamp from the Sponge Dauber before I needed to re-load... and as (on this occasion) I wasn't too bothered about totally complete snowflakes... I also found that I could stamp a couple of times without re-applying...

I also stamped the snowflakes onto the main mat... which doesn't show up very well! But it is beautiful in the flesh...
Note that the Balmy Blue background "blizzard blotch" stamp was stamped off onto scrap paper before stamping onto the card...

Greeting stamped in Night of Navy. Night of Navy card mat on the white card - but Champagne Foil mat on the Navy card...

And spot that the die-cut snowflakes are finished off with a white Basics Self Adhesive Sequin
