Santa's Sleigh in the Sky...

Special card made for my All Day events this week... 8 reindeer flying into the sky pulling Santa's Sleigh...

Now I have to admit that the reindeer pulling a sleigh on a Double Z Fold card was not my original idea... I was completely inspired when I saw this stunning card shared by Kathy Wayson back in August. So I immediately put the Santa's Sleigh stamps and dies on my next order...

And I was definitely not alone in adoring this card... as many other Stampin' Up! demonstrators have been inspired to make their own version... so there are many beautiful Santa's Sleigh Double Z Fold cards out there if you Google it.... or search on Pinterest...

But I had a few other ideas of my own!

I knew I had to make the reindeer fly up into the air! So it had to be a Large Square Double Z Fold Card and my Staircase Double Z Fold card method ending up coming into its own for a second time! See points 4-11 for the acetate part - you need a 6.2cm A4 piece of acetate scored at 14.8 & 7.4cm  and note that you need to line up at 2.5cm to the LHS in point 6 as the fold stands the other way round - or 3" x 11" for US measurements - scored at 2 3/4" & 5 1/2" - lined up at 1" to the LHS) 

I had to have the full compliment of 8... as in "On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer and Vixen, On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen!" Quickly achieved by turning the Double Z Fold card in the opposite direction to the usual... Though I have now thought of a way to add Rudolph at the front too... Maybe another day!

And I was definitely using my favourite Fancy Frost papers to create a snowy little scene as the background...

And the trees had to be stamped on the Presents & Pinecones Mint Macaron paper as I had stocked up on that already!

So there you have it... a card that has been causing a real WOW in the flesh... thank you Kathy Wayson for inspiring us all....

Acrylic Block Background Stamping & Sleigh Ride

Just realised I haven't shared this card... a stunner in the flesh...and simple enough to make...

Take one acrylic block ( you know the ones that you mount your stamps onto) ...

Dab Mint Macaron ink pad on bottom third...

Dab Night of Navy inkpad on top two-thirds...

Lightly spritz with water and stamp...

Add die cut word, die cut glimmer trees and a couple of stamped greetings...

Covered Box Frame Card Tutorial for Fancy Fold Friday

I just had to make another Box Frame card with my Sleigh Ride dies...

This one has a few more layers...so again a depth that just works so well set in a Box Frame...

And this one was ripe for extra frontage... so it has a cover too...

And seeing as it is Friday...

Here is the Tutorial for a Covered Box Frame Card for you...
1. Make one Box Frame
2. Cut a piece of matching cardstock to 27.2 x 13cm (11" x 5 1/4")
3. Score LANDSCAPE piece at 13cm (5 1/4") from each side
4. Bone Fold
5. Adhere back of Box Frame to inside back (do not glue down the spine!)

Sleigh Ride Trifold Trio - Part 3 - and the Tutorial

Another day...

Another variant of my simple Tri Fold card...

The simplest of them all...

Just Score, Fold, Cut and go...

 

And note - I had to re-make this card in a real rush... as my sample had disappeared from the house....

If I had had any spare time today - I would have re-made it again... the left side would have been higher and the right side lower - this making the left flap stronger as the card is opened out - and less of an overhang at the left. I would also have remembered to add some glue & glitter - doh!

The featured tri-fold card for this Trio of Cards is simple...and seeing as it a Tuesday Tips & Tutorials post today.... here are the details...

Just take a 9.9 cm X A4L piece of card (or for my US readers 4" x 12"card)

Place it LANDSCAPE onto your trimmer...

Score at 9.9cm from either side (US 4")

See...simples!!

Die cut the sides as necessary...just make sure that your die only just touches the relevant score-line ( as you don't want any cuts on the back!) and then the top part of the scoreline is just trimmed down from the top to the die cut line using scissors or trimmer...

For the first card...
Bone fold flat...
Stick sides down...
Stick onto square card blank... ( 10.5cm Square blank from A4 card or 4 1/4" Square from US standard card)

For the second card...
Stretch the side flaps with your bone folder to add the curves
Stick sides down as finely as you can so as to retain the curves
Make a 1cm (3/8") deep Box Frame Card
Stick this card into the void...

For this third card...
Bone Fold Flat
Don't stick the sides down...
Leave the card as it is...
Small but sweet Fancy Fold Tri-Fold... opening up layer by layer...

And here is the round up shot! Note it isn't a trio of cards after all - but a Quad...

What I love about this basic card is that I can make a load of the simplest format... then... as and when I find some extra time - I can further decorate (or rather Box Frame it!) to my hearts content... so one card suits all!!

Trifold Card Trio Part 2

 

So here is the second part of my Trio of Tri Fold Cards...

The main central card is exactly the same again...

But curves added to the side sections... by just stretching with my bone folder...and the sides carefully stuck down so as to keep those curves...

And then popped into a Box Frame card so as to add to the drama!

Note the merry Christmas greeting - just using the Jingle All The Way stamp set - How To details here...

Oh and wait - there is another incredibly similar card - which I have shared before... This is what happens when your curves get too pronounced... you need a deeper box section - so I just re-sized to a 3/4" deep Box Frame Card (save you searching for now - this one is on the Tutorials To Do List!)

Small Trifold Sleigh Ride card

This card is one in a series of three...

One card fold dressed 3 ways...

From the purely simple to the somewhat fancier...

This one is just simply matted onto a  Night of Navy 10.5cm Square (4 1/8")  card blank... though for my US readers you could use a 4 1/4" Square card blank...

I will share another one in the series tomorrow and finish off on Tuesday with the last one and the tutorial for all 3...

Houses in the Snow...

Another little house scene care of the Sleigh Ride edgelits...

Houses aqua painted with Smoky Slate...

Back panel embossed with Softly Falling (carrying over - so I finally might have to buy another one to replace the one I lost! Long story...)

Finished off with the beautiful wording from Embellished Ornaments in Night of Navy and a satin silver bow...

All very serene... but still simple enough to mass produce!

Partial Bendi Fold Card with Fancy Fold Friday Tutorial

A Bendi Fold card was the first card I HAD to make once I had my Sleigh Ride edgelits in my hand...

But the right panel was too short and I thought there would be a problem with the card in the hands of the receiver... The card will arrive flat in the envelope and I have to hope that they spot both slots and manage to assemble it...

Probably definitely not the back slot... as it is difficult to see and difficult to assemble...

So I changed the card to just have the front slot... as I reckon that one will be managed! And from a distance it looks exactly the same as the Full Bendi Fold version...

Also spot the merry Christmas greeting - it is just using the co-ordinating Jingle All The Way stamp set - merry from "merry everything" and Christmas from "home for Christmas". 

I just covered the words on the stamp that I didn't want with a post it note, inked up the stamp, removed the post it note and stamped...then repeated with the other stamp...

And the background is Baby Wipe Marbled again...on Shimmer White card here - just using Night of Navy ink this time... very subtle so may not show up in the photo...

And  - seeing as it is Fancy Fold Friday - here are the metric instructions for this Partial Bendi Fold version...

Recipe - I used all Shimmer White card 

Back Panel 14.8 x 10.5cm

Front RHS Panel 14.8 x 6.5cm 

Front LHS panel 13.5 x 8.5cm

Marbled Background Panel 14.3 x 10cm

1. With Front RHS 6.5cm panel LANDSCAPE - score at 1cm from both sides

2. Turn the panel over and mark 1 and 2.5cm down from the top on the left score line

3. Cut above and below to form a tab 

4. With Front LHS 8.5cm LANDSCAPE - score at 1cm from one side 

5. With score to Left, line up panel LANDSCAPE at 5cm on Top Bar

6. Cut from 5.5 to 7.5cm

7. Die cut houses on Front LHS 8.5cm panel

8. Die cut trees on Front RHS 6.5cm panel

9. Trim down score line as necessary

10. Bone fold scorelines

11. Ink up & stamp merry Christmas on Front RHS Trees panel

12. Adhere Front LHS Houses panel (to LHS) and Front RHS Trees panel (to RHS) to the front face of the larger Back Panel using the 1cm sections/tabs

13. Emboss & Baby Wipe Marble smaller 14.3 x 10cm background panel 

14. Adhere background panel to front face of Back Panel ( duly covering up those 1 cm tabs)

15. Make sure your small tab fits in the slot. Trim if necessary...
