Flower Shop Small Square Double Z Joy Fold Card with Tutorial

Here is my favourite of the Double Z Fold cards... so you may see a few of these over time... and seeing as it is Fancy Fold Friday... another tutorial for you!

I used the Fresh Florals papers in Tranquil Tide, Flower Shop stamps with co-ordinating Pansy Punch, Stitched Framelits dies and One Big Meaning greeting stamps... just click on the highlighted links if you want to look at those products on-line...

And as I made quite a few of these ... as I had a batch of Thank You cards to make... you can see the effects of different combinations of card panels and papers!!
Larger white panel with smaller Pool Party...
Larger & smaller Pool Party ...
Larger Pool Party & smaller Tranquil Tide...
And now for the Tutorial... with some added step by step photos of the gluing steps for those of you that want them...

Note: black type for centimetres using A4 cardstock & blue type for inches using US 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock...

Craft Spa Recipe (A4)
A4 Pool Party/Thick Whisper White 21 x 10.5cm
A4 Pool Party/Tranquil Tide 17.5 x 7cm
A4 Whisper White Front Stitched Framelit Square/6.5cm Square; Small Centre 4.7 x 6.5cm
Paper Left Front 4.7 x 10cm
Paper Right Back 10 cm Square
Paper Small Back 4.7 x 6.5cm

Craft Spa Recipe (US)
US Letter Card Pool Party/Thick Whisper White 8 1/2" x 4 1/4"
US Pool Party/Tranquil Tide 7" x 2 3/4"
US Whisper White Card Front Stitched Framelit/2 1/2" Square; Small Centre 1 7/8" x 2 1/2"
Paper Left Front 1 7/8" x 4"
Paper Right Back 4" Square
Paper Small Back  1 7/8" x 2 1/2"

Craft Spa Directions (A4)
1. Score large Pool Party/Thick Whisper White LANDSCAPE panel at 5.25 & 10.5cm (US 2 1/8" & 4 1/4")
2. Z Bone Fold. Valley for halfway/centre... Peak for quarter-way

3. Score small Pool Party/Tranquil Tide LANDSCAPE panel at 5.25 & 10.5 cm
(US 2 1/8" & 4 1/4")
4. Z Bone Fold. Peak halfway-ish (front) fold... Valley for Quarter-ish (back) fold

5. Adhere papers

Now to sticking the two Z Fold parts. Think about what needs to go where!!! Otherwise you will just stick your whole card together and it won't open after all!! Suggest a dry run with no glue the first time... then it should all become obvious... though I have added some photos of how I do it!

6. Adhere back section of smaller Z Fold onto back face of main card. Close the small Z Fold with the square/front face at the top and the Z folds behind... Apply glue to back/narrower face..

7. Eyeball the small Z Fold square/front face centrally onto the back panel... and stick...
8. Open out the smaller Z Fold off to the right & close the front folds of the main card
9. Adhere front part of smaller Z Fold onto main card front (think about where NOT to put your glue... I use my fingers to guide me where I have put the pen in the photo...
10. Decorate as desired... and yes this is a full opening version (and there is no partial-opening version!)

Birthday Card for Shelli

Double Display Birthday Card for Shelli, Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa (1)

Now as any Stampin’ Up demonstrator that was at the recent European Stampin’ Up! Convention in Brussels knows… there was a surprise Birthday Card gathering for CEO, Shelli Gardner.

As Shelli says on her blog…. Highlights for me were being sent onstage to receive an unexpected birthday greeting. I was standing backstage, patiently waiting for my cue, when our stage manager told me to go onstage. I hesitated. . . this wasn’t the way we’d rehearsed it! But she insisted it was time, so I walked out (you never argue with the stage manager during a show!). Donna handed me a birthday card, and then employees started gathering cards from the demonstrators in the audience. Somehow they’d planned this fun birthday surprise without me knowing. Sterling and I opened every birthday card that day (there were hundreds), and that thoughtful gesture made this year’s extended birthday celebration even more special!

Now even though I couldn’t be there in person this year... I decided that I would take some time out to make a card for Shelli in any case… So Happy Birthday Shelli… The card was personally taken over for me by friend and fellow demo, Sharon. Thanks again Sharon! Really wish I could have been there with you all!

So this is the card I made. Yes… another Large Square Double Display Card… definitely my favourite card format this year! And yes I will be sharing the instructions sometime mid November… Sorry but you will have to be patient….

Edited to Add….Imperial Tutorial here. Metric Tutorial  here.

Tag Topper Box Card – Tutorial or the How To!!

2014_03_Scallop Tag Topper Punch_Box Card_Amanda Bates_The Craft Spa (11)

Apologies for those of you that have been desperate for a tutorial on this one… but I had to share my Envelope Punch Board projects first…. I hope that you will understand…..

I have been completely WOWED by the comments, emails and blog hits on this little card… within days it has actually shot up into my Top 20 Blog Posts ever!! Thank You. Thank You. Thank You…. it has made my week very special!!!

Thought I would first share a photo of the back of the Box Card too…..

2014_03_Scallop Tag Topper Punch_Box Card_Amanda Bates_The Craft Spa (10)

So definitely time for a share of how to make one for yourself… though people local in the York / Harrogate / Boroughbridge / Wetherby / Thirsk / Easingwold area of North Yorkshire could come along and make it here instead…. I would love to hear from you…. this will be one of the projects that you can make during March using Amanda’s favourite new product ….. the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch…..

First up – the Metric /European A4 card size version (which is what I used as I find that the very marginally less wide 5cm sections fit better into the Scalloped Tag Topper punch than a 2” section! Even though I am usually an inches gal!!)

1. Start with a piece of card A4 wide (aka 21cm ) x 11.4cm (aka 4 1/2” )  long

2. Score LANDSCAPE* at 5, 10, 15 & 20cm

3. Score PORTRAIT* at 5cm (with the narrow section at the top)

And the Imperial/US Letter size version

1. Start with a piece of cardstock 8 1/2” wide x 4 1/2” long

2. Score LANDSCAPE* at 2”, 4”, 6” and 8”

3. Score PORTRAIT* at 2” (with the narrow section at the top)

PS… *for those of you that aren’t used to the terminology…. as I do love to used one word instead of a long sentence…. where I can….

LANDSCAPE means put the wider section along the top “stop bar/ruler” of your score board or trimmer  - and score down across the narrower section

PORTRAIT means the narrower section along the top  - and score down across the wider section!!

And then for both….

4. Bone Fold all your score-lines

5. Cut off the smaller narrow section

6. Cut up the 3 shorter score lines to form the 4 tabs

7. Pop each section/flap into the Tag Topper Punch & Punch ( x4)

2014_03_Scallop Tag Topper Punch_Box Card_Amanda Bates_The Craft Spa (4)

8. Adhere together to form the box using the narrow section

2014_03_Scallop Tag Topper Punch_Box Card_Amanda Bates_The Craft Spa (8)

9. Score two small 1.5cm x 7 cm card pieces  at 1 cm from each end to form the slats to go across the centre of the box (or score two 1/2” x 3” pieces at 1/2” from each end )

10. Decorate as desired…. come back tomorrow for tips on paper sizes and how to best punch the paper pieces for decoration... I have to admit that my little box sat for a fortnight undecorated… as punching small pieces of paper wasn’t too successful initially!!!!

Envelope Punch Board–Mini Series #2

2014_02_Envelope Punch Board Project by Amanda Bates @ The Craft Spa, North Yorkshire, UK (2)

Here is another project we did using the Envelope Punch Board… a simple 6” envelope card with a belly band closure. I must thank Nic (aided and abetted by Sharon & Sam…) for their stunning samples at Nic’s Team Training inspiration station which inspired to try one of these cards… and I am so glad I did….

I kept everything really really simple on purpose …just the beautiful  Simply Fabulous words  and gorgeous punched Flower Shop flowers – including a paper pierced flower to throw in a new technique for most of my ladies! Oh and another Scallop Square – you still can’t keep them out of The Craft Spa!!!!

This class was really about showing everyone what to do with their board step by step – so more projects – less faffing!!!! But everyone still took home 7 finished projects… and their own Punch Board….and everyone loved doing everything with their Punch Board… step-by-step… and all at the same time… though we still can’t work out how that meant we did even more chatting than usual!!! Must be something to do with less memory power being required at the time!!!! And they all got a crib sheet too…..

But I cannot believe I took so long to buy the Simple Fabulous stamp set… as it is really is… Simply Fabulous…& Gorgeous… and i do use the expression A Million and One … a lot…by all accounts!!!!

And a few more photos for you ….

Back tomorrow with more of our Envelope Punch Board projects.

And then I will get to publish the details for the Scalloped Tag Topper Box Card I shared earlier in the week….. I know a lot of you are waiting for that….. I am in awe over the number of messages ands blog hits with that one!! Thank YOU so much. It has already hit my Top 10 blog posts ever…. WOW…. Amaze-Balls!!!

Tag Topper Box Card

Tag Topper Punch Box Card by Amanda Bates @ The Craft Spa 001

Travel around Pinterest for papercrafts inspiration at the moment – and you see 2 major trends! Firstly..the Box Card and secondly…projects using the new and fabulous Stampin’ Up! Tag Topper Punch.

So last week…. I thought it was time for me to try to merge the two…. so here we have a Tag Topper Box Card.

I first saw the Box Card  - aka Card in A Box – here on my SU! granny Monica Gale’s blog back in September– and you can find Monica’s video tutorial here. Thank you Monica…..  I have to give Netty a shout out too… great project introduction Netty!! I think my first Box Card was made on the 2nd October when Monica shared this tutorial with us all – it was a very popular Christmas card at my classes….

This version is a completely different size…much more diddy…so so cute!!

This card will be one of the projects in my March Tag Topper Punch classes….but here are the recipe & directions for this card … I had to first finish my instructions and prepping for the Envelope Punch Board class I ran last week…..

And here are a few more views of the card….. firstly flat for posting….
