Fancy Fold Friday Frolics with Love...

Have I got a treat for your eyes today...

A stunning little buckaroo box card... care of Darling Donkeys (which can be yours for free with a £45 purchase during Sale A Bration...)

I have to admit that this really made my day yesterday... I needed a pick-me-up and this card certainly did it for me... I wow-ed and smiled... and laughed and oooh'd... and then I am really glad to report... that I went onto have a creative marathon .... so lots of projects ready to share....

So this fabulous card... is not made by yours truly... but by Rebecca Deary... a lovely fellow demonstrator, team member and friend...

This was sent with love... hence the hearts... as part of a "Give A Little Love card chain"... and it reminded me... how much a  handmade card really is like "a hug with a fold in the middle" as the saying goes...

So try it... it comes highly recommended... as both a giver... and a receiver...

Just send someone a card... with a heart to show that you care... just to say hello and give them a hug...

I am on a mission now... wonder how many cards with hearts I can make to arrive by 14th Feb... anyone care to join me?

Though I admit that the 2 cards I have sent so far were much simpler than Rebecca's gorgeous card...

Back soon!

1.  Place  12”paper piece LANDSCAPE on trimmer
2.  Score at 2 ½”, 5”, 7 ½” & 10”
3.  Place  10”paper piece LANDSCAPE on trimmer

6.  Bone Fold 10” piece Valley, Mountain, Valley

7.  Apply ink to left side/edge of 10” strip if necessary
The Noble Peacock papers used here have a white core so better to ink up with some Noble Peacock ink – I just placed the edge onto the ink pad… and used a tissue to wipe away any excess ink ( as these papers are foiled so the ink will not sink into any foiled parts!

8.  Place 12” section to left and 10” section to right in front of you
9.  Adhere 2 together placing the left hand side of the RH 10” piece over the short width of the LH 12 piece”

10. Score both box panels at 1” on all 4 sides
11. Bone Fold and dart on 2 opposing sides
12. Punch larger box section (ie lid) on 2 longer sides with ¾” circle punch
13. Apply glue and adhere (smaller) Base Box
14. Apply glue and adhere (larger) Base Lid whilst on the Base

15. Adhere sides of Main Card onto Box Lid and Box Base (my Lid is on the LHS, and Base on the RHS)

16. Decorate as necessary.
I die cut 4
Noble Peacock paper Old Olive letters and 4 Noble Peacock Foil Bermuda Bay letters (which are then embossed using the Tufted embossing folder for a bit of texture!)

But before I go... remember the Flash Sale tomorrow... for one day only...

Concertina Box Card incorporating Stitched Stars

So there is a story behind this box card...

But before I start... Stock update!! The Feels Like Frost papers are back into stock to order!! I don't think they will be in stock to order for very long though...

And when I ordered last night... the featured Brightly Gleaming papers were on back order... but orderable again! Which means they will just arrive separately in a few weeks time... unless they go unorderable before you get to order...

So back to today's post...

I was asked to create a "birthday card in a box" for classes as Nicola's younger daughter has complained for the last few years that her older sister has had one than one card in a box... and she hasn't had one!!
I realised that I have created many "card in a box " or "box card" versions over the years... but not one like this!

As I have combined the "old favourite" Tag Topper Punch Concertina Card  (albeit with a reduced number of panels) ... and the box for it to go in... so this is truly a card in a box... as the box is indeed an in-separable part of the card!
And the birthday card is yet to be shared... but we liked it so much we had to make a christmas one too! Featuring Brightly Gleaming, Stitched Stars and Merry Christmas To All...
So what do you think? Worthy of a tutorial at some point?  Edited to Add- click here for the Tutorial posted 22 October...

Stampers Showcase - Dapper Denim and The Sea!

Cute little box card project using the new 2016-18 In Color Dapper Denim Designer Series papers and my trusty Gift Bag Punch Board... this one definitely proved popular on the Stampers Showcase at Telford...

This is a re-make of a previously very popular project... Go here for the tutorial posted earlier for a variant using the Sprinkles of Life stamp set... I definitely like this new one more!!
I used a few stamps sets on this card!! As is my way...

You will no doubt recognise ... Sprinkles of Life with its co-ordinating Tree punch for the clouds & greeting... and Guy Greetings for the anchor and relevant greeting (die cut using Project Life Cards & Labels dies)
But you will not recognise my little yacht! Ok more sailing dingy... This is in the brand new Swirly Bird stamp set coming to you soon... more on this set another day!

The waves were cut using the scalloped border die in the Cutie Pie die set (you know the cake one!)

And the base box card is made using Marina Mist to add to the maritime theme! Or rather as I had run out of Dapper Denim card by the time I made this one.... as Caroline said... only 4 sheets to work with!!!

Wild About Flowers Amazing Birthday Gift Bag Punch Board Small Box Card #2

Seeing as this little Box Card with the poppies has proven to be very popular... I made a birthday version for everyone to make at this week's class....

Good job I know that they are happy with fussy cutting - and homework!
Apart from using Very Vanilla instead of Old Olive card and Amazing Birthday for the sentiments - I also flipped the papers for the sides and flaps around...so this time - the paper was not turned upside down for step 2 in Cutting the Paper in my tutorial post
Lighter and brighter...and a card for happier times.....

And here is everything I used...

Medium Square Box Frame Card with Tutorial for Fancy Fold Friday

So it is Fancy Fold Friday again...so here is another idea and another tutorial for a different Box Frame card...

This card is a birthday card for a favourite "uncle" of mine - known him since the day I was born!! A very special man in & throughout my life... thought it was about time I told him that!

Having die-cut the Scallop Square aperture for yesterday's version of the card... I thought that it was maybe a bit too "frilly" for a man's card...but I liked using a Square Framelit to cut out the aperture in the paper rather than using strips as per the original card I made....

But the largest Square Framelit aperture is too small for the large 6" square versions of the Box Frame Card I have been making - another one here...

So a re-size was in order - so this is a 5 1/2 Square card instead - so I am calling this the Medium Square Box Frame card... although it isn't that much smaller really....

But before I share the tutorial – these details should be read in conjunction with my Shadow Box original tutorial which has  pictures of each step for you.

In fact I strongly recommend that you make up one of the shadow boxes as per my original tutorial first… call it a practice run! The adhering of the sides (steps 6&7)  is harder in this version – so it is better that you know what to do before you do it!!!

And I have to admit that I use Tombow on the straight sides – as having a bit of wiggle time is very useful with this one! Still use Sticky Strip on those diagonals though…..

You will need
Basic Black 12x12 Card cut to 11 1/2" Square
Basic Black Card cut to 11” x 5 1/2”
Designer Series Paper 5 1/4" Square
Very Vanilla Card 3 7/16" Square
Very Vanilla Card/DSP 5 1/4" Square (for inside)

Tutorial
1. Score Square Basic Black Square  panel at 1”, 1 ½”, 2 ½” and 3” on all 4 sides.

2. Score extra score-lines from edge to 2nd score line at 4” and 7 1/2" on 2 opposing sides
3. Cut up these extra score lines & diagonally across to the 3rd score-line intersection
4. Cut off  “16-square” section at each corner

5. Bone Fold

6. Adhere 2 straight sections
7. Adhere 2 notched side sections

8. Score LANDSCAPE 11" x 5 1/2" panel in half at 5 1/2”
9. Bone Fold
10. Adhere to back of box frame
11. Adhere card/paper to front face of card back

12. Die cut aperture in paper using largest Square Framelit ( TIP - I eyeball it! - but if you are uncomfortable with that - draw the diagonals in with pencil/Frixion pen on the back of the paper - then eyeballing/getting the die central is much easier!!)

13. Adhere paper to front of frame

14. Decorate as necessary.
Note - I just daubed the Sahara Sand ink on the Worlds Greatest banner - saved me going upstairs for some Sahara Sand cardstock!
