Berry Basket Planter… Work in Progress!

Easter Treats Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 058Easter Treats Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 052

A few of you asked what Berry Basket project I had been originally plotting for my mothers’ Ferrero Rocher treats for Mothers Day…

Well it looked like this… but those heavy little chocolates just made it tip over… so I went back to the drawing board… but in the meantime some little blossoms from Indescribable Gift just made it in the planter…so I think you can get the idea…. definitely a work in progress….. though now not for Easter…. plotting for her birthday in July now!!

And yes…. the base is made from 2 Berry Basket die cut sides too… just an extra score 3/4”(2cm) down from the die-score-line…eh voila!

The “stand part” is added…simple little long box that goes neatly into the base through a punched square with tabs opened up underneath…

Painted Petals Note Cards Trio

Groovy Love, made by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 094

Loving my Painted Petals stamps. I can feel a series coming on…..

Let’s start with something simple…. grab some white and crumb cake notecards & envelopes, some Whisper White cardstock, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky  & Craft Whisper White inks & some sponges. Oh and maybe a few other things as we go along…..

And just create…. no fuss, no bother… simple but gorgeous!

Groovy Love, made by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 101

Keeping it clean & simple… Direct Wild Wasabi ink pad around the central Whisper White panel. Gems coloured using Blendys….

Groovy Love, made by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 097

Could maybe do with a close up photo here…. the central panel flowers are inked with Rose Red..then extra highlights added using a Rich Razzleberry marker… yummy!

A bit of faux shadow work…. background of whisper white flowers over-stamped with Rose Red flowers.

And central Whisper White panel Soft Sky sponged all over then Wild Wasabi sponged around edges….

Groovy Love, made by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 099

Central white panel all Soft Sky sponged  and Dazzling Details applied to the flowers. So pretty!

Groovy Love, made by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa 100

And you can still see the texture of the stamp coming through…

Painted Petals Large Square Double Display Card

Painted Blooms Large Square Double Display card by Sam Wilson

I have a real treat for you today…

This is a stunning card made by my incredibly talented friend and fellow Jems team member, Sam Wilson using my Large Square Double Display Card tutorial. Imperial version here. Metric version here.

It is just too good not to share more widely… so I was delighted when Sam agreed that I could share with you all….

Spot that centre panel…no, not the Painted Blooms papers. Sam meticulously re-created the large paper panel effect using the co-ordinating stamps. But Sam’s tip for you….. that took  a while!!!!

And I will have another Double Display card treat to share with you shortly…. Sam has sent me a photo of her gorgeous Christmas Large Square Double Display card…all I can say is double WOW!!

So Very Grateful Four You

2014_05_Flowers 020

There are just times where something really simple just says it all….

Though I have to laugh… this is a “concept card” ie a card where I play at a new technique or with a new stamp set…or just because!

2014_05_Flowers 022

Just setting off on my travels to the Stampin’ Up! event at Telford tomorrow now… going down to Kate’s and hitching a ride from Carol & Kate from there. A gang of us joining up for a meal at the hotel tonight. And then trying to grab enough tables first thing in the morning – so the team can all share our excitement together!!! New catty from 1st July… So lots of new products tomorrow… so much excitement amongst friends… Can’t wait!!

Clean & Simple Dapper Dad Watch Man’s Card

2013_03_Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa,UK Stampin Up demonstrator, Dapper Dad Watch (1)

Another clean & simple card using the Dapper Dad stamp set with the Parkers Patterns papers. Think there is just one more Dapper Dad card to share after this one!! We did these in a class back in March and again I thought it was about time I got round to sharing them.

This one uses the watch image with a soda pop top which was crushed through the Big Shot just to add a little detail around the watch face.  I also tried filling in the watch face with Crystal Effects but the ink ran badly so... don't try that one at home!

But I have to admit that I now prefer the watch detailed using the Silver Basics Designer button and brad as shown on yesterday's post.... Though the pop top version maybe better for a ladies watch… What do you think??

SU! Supplies

Stamps – Dapper Dad; Sassy Salutations

Papers – Parkers Patterns

Cardstock – Naturals Ivory; Not Quite Navy; Baja Breeze; Marina Mist

Ink – Not Quite Navy

Embellishments – Soda Pop Top

Stampin’ UP! Sale A Bration– Patterned Occasions meets Lattice Die or Honeycomb Embossing to make Baby Quilts!

2013_01 Jems Training ,Amanda Bates, The Craft Spa, SAB, SU 010

So here is Part 7 of my Sale A Bration project share!! These cards were ones that prompted  huge amounts reaction and comment at Team Training… a bit of a  “different” colour combo for me… particularly for  a Baby card….. but everyone else loved it!!!

You may spot the new Amanda die-fetish here too….. I am really loving the Lattice die… wouldn’t be without it!! More uses of this die definitely coming this way….. Can’t wait to use it on some real material…. can you imagine the “real” patchwork quilt you can make…. And spot the Essentials Paper Piercing pack used on this card to add the pierced circle around the white base circle – you can also get this for free with a £45 order during SAB….

2013_01 Jems Training ,Amanda Bates, The Craft Spa, SAB, SU 006

And of course the new Honeycomb Embossing Folder – a definite must have!! Loving the look… very now & happening…. The honeycomb paper pieces are just made by embossing Designer Series papers and then cutting the shapes out by hand…. great value for people on a budget… ( but I still await the punch Stampin’ Up! – Fingers crossed!!)

2013_01 Jems Training ,Amanda Bates, The Craft Spa, SAB, SU 011And here is a close up the textured face of both of these cards – still loving the Square Lattice Embossing Folder to add this effect.  A little extra that makes the biggest of difference!!

Blooming Marvellous, The Craft Spa, SAB 2013, Stampin Up, SU (1)

So here is Part 4 of my Sale A Bration Projects share… a Fancy Fold card this time…  using the gorgeous Blooming Marvellous stamp set – yes this is another set that you can get for free with an order of over £45 until 22 March…..

Blooming Marvellous, The Craft Spa, SAB 2013, Stampin Up, SU (2)

This card showcases my new favourite die for this month!! The Lattice Die…. lot of detail but a simple look… just like its owner!!! And loads of ways to use it…. more coming at some point!!

And yet another Scallop Square Die project has slipped in… this must be about no 30 shared on this blog…. time to move on me thinks… though I do have some tutorials yet to post with the how tos…. I took a lot of step by step photos… and then misplaced them!! But I found them all this week…..

As the How-To-Do-That (Aka Mini Tutorial) for this one – you need to take a 12” x 4 3/4” piece of card. Blooming Marvellous, The Craft Spa, SAB 2013, Stampin Up, SU (3)

Score Landscape at 4 1/4” and 7 5/8” and bone fold ( one as a mountain and the other as a valley)

Place the folded panel on your Scallop Square die with the folds placed one scallop in from either side (piccys below.. may help.. may not!!) The elevated fold to the LHS is placed one scallop in from the LHS.. trust me!!

Scallop Square, How To, Lattice, Blooming Marvellous, The Craft Spa, SU, Sale A Bration, SAB 001 (2)

Die cut. You end up with a concertina fold card base

Stampin’ Up! Sale A Bration– Pretty Petites and Petite Curly Label Punch –2 very different looks and a different use for the Simply Scored Border Plate

Petite Curly Label Punch, Pretty Petites, The Craft Spa, Sale A Bration, SAB, SU, Stampin Up (4)

So here is Part 3 of my Sale A Bration projects share…. this time I am focusing on the Pretty Petites stamp set and the matching Petite Curly Label Punch. Both the stamp set and the punch are free with a £45 order until 22 March – but you need to spend £90 to get them both for free!! However we have it on good authority that the punch will still  be available after Sale A Bration finishes on 22nd March… phew! It is proving very popular…

Thought I had better share this “moustache” card early in the series…. as we are only a week away from St Valentines Day on 14th Feb….. and how simple can a card be!! The Petite Curly Label Punch is just perfect for the job of creating a little moustache…. just punch the top of the shape at the edge of a piece of cardstock … then move the punch up slightly above your punched shape and punch again… eh voila! Out pops the little moustache…..

And as a second share today , also using the Petite Curly Label punch – but this time with the SAB Pretty Petites Stamp set…..

Petite Curly Label Punch, Pretty Petites, The Craft Spa, Sale A Bration, SAB, SU, Stampin Up (1)

This card also uses the new Borders Scoring Plate for the Simply Scored Board as available in the brand new Spring/Summer Catalogue … but in a whole new way!!! Simply Scored Borders Scoring Plate, The Craft Spa, Amanda Bates

No embossing tool or Bone Folder used here…..I got the dauber out on it!!! Inked up my dauber and just daubed along the cut out shape in the overlay for the  length required for my card, then moved the overlay and repeated for the other colours. I used the second shape down for my card…….  For those of you that haven’t see the plate… there is a plastic overlay that you can place over your piece of card or paper to ( very significantly ) help you line up your scoring tool to score the lines – this is what I laid over my card blank and used…..

So here are a couple of product pictures to help you see what shapes you can “daub”…… or even emboss as originally intended of course…..  A very very popular item at the moment….
