Tropical Escape Die Cut Tri-Fold Card with Tutorial

Still can't get enough of this square die cut panel in the Tropical Thinlits dies... but wanted to do something a bit different for a card... and it caused quite a reaction in the flesh! Along with a few "how the heck did you do that?"s

So I created a simple Tri Fold card...  by taking half a piece of A4 card ie 10.5cm x A4L (29.7cm)... and scoring it LANDSCAPE at 9.9cm from either side (for US Letter Size card... 4 1/4" x 11" piece... score at 3 11/16" from either side)

Then Bone Fold in Z fold or concertina fold fashion (Peak fold for left, Valley for right)
I then die cut a Layering Squares (7cm) aperture through the front section...

Then lined it all up... taped Tropical leaves die down where required... and die cut the white leaves panel in the central section...
And a separate leaf panel in Lemon Lime Twist (7cm or 2 7/8" card)

Note that my white leaf panel is die cut so that the "right face" is on the inside of the card... which means that the "wrong face" is actually showing to the front of this card... obvious what that means if you make one! And it doesn't matter if yours are the other way round!!

Stuck Lemon Lime Twist leaf panel over front of die cut leaf panel... Slightly off so that you can see a shadow on both sides... and the "wrong way round" in my case!!!
And stuck my front and central faces together.... note that the folded edge is to the right hand side of the card front...

Die cut a couple of Layering Squares frames... one straight edge for the front in Granny Apple Green... and a scallop edge one in Lemon Lime Twist for the centre (using 7.5cm or 3" square card pieces)...

Then stuck the frames around as required...
And finished off the back face with a piece of Tropical Escape paper (9.5cm W x 10cm H or US 3 7/16"W x 4"H) and a Granny Apple Green Tropical Chic greeting
Oh my gosh what a lot of words for such a simple-in-style card!! But I know there are some of you that will appreciate it!

Note that US followers using US Letter sized card will have cards that are slightly less wide and higher... and therefore a narrower border around the leaves area to the top of the card..

And one final tip for you... it was easier to die cut the scalloped frame in one go with the 2 dies ...than the straight edge frame... so a remake would have  scalloped ones!!

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...

So whilst we made this Swing Easel card...we had to keep the Twinkle Builder punched out parts to make this simple card...

Another 5 1/2" Square (or 14cm Square) card blank to keep things constant for class prepping...

With the 13.5cm (5 1/4") starry Twinkle Twinkle papers adhered to the front of the card... and then the largest Layering Squares aperture cut out (7.3cm/2 7/8") in the centre
And a Tip for you if you struggle to eyeball cutting a square in the centre like this... draw diagonal lines from each corner... intersecting at the centre... your eyes will start to behave then!!!

White embossed Little Twinkle greeting...

Stuck to a 7.8cm/3 1/8" Square Whisper White panel... and then the square carefully stuck to the top of the hole...
And another Tip for you... as the line around the aperture on the top of the card... neatly defined the area that no glue should go over...

Finished off with the punched Whisper White moon and stars.. with a trio of  Twinkle Adhesive Backed star Sequins to add a touch of sparkle to finish it all off...

Fancy Fold Friday Small Square Pop Out Swing Card

One of the last of my Springtime Foils Pop Out Swing (aka Lever) card series... a small square Pop Out Swing Card... this one letting the wonderfully robust Springtime Foils papers do most of the work... no cardstock needed as well with these papers...

Remember that a pack of these wonderful papers can be yours for free with a £45 order... or 2 packs for free with a £90 order...etc... 3 sheets each of the 4 designs in a pack...
Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper
Front paper Sponge Brayered with Soft Sky... and then the leaves Night of Navy Marker coloured... though patience required with this step!! And a cotton bud becomes your new best friend!!! ( for removing excess ink off the foil) so I personally would use the Stampin Blends for those leaves a next time...and accept that I lose that silver foil definition on the leaves!

The papers on the inside are coloured using Soft Sky and Night of Navy Markers... as I wanted the silver foil to remain silver... again that cotton bud being super useful!!!

Finished off with some Sweet Soiree Embellishment Pack vellum leaves... which are a perfect match for the leaf design papers! Again Night of Navy marker coloured...

Plus a couple of Cake Soiree stamped & die cut flowers... for which the dies can now be earned for free with a £90+ order... see here for the details of the extra Sale A Bration products added this week if you missed that post...
Flowers finished off with a couple of Tutti Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins in the centre... one Pool Party as it comes... and the other coloured with the dark Night of Navy Stampin Blend...

And finally... a bow made from dark Pool Party Stampin Blends coloured Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon to finish... which is hands down my favourite Stampin Up ribbon ever!

Oh and... Night of Navy greetings from Perennial Birthday... front one on a Stitched Shapes square panel... (which was also used to die cut the aperture) with a surrounding scalloped Night of Navy frame die cut separately using the Layering Squares with the Stitched Shapes square die

Wednesday Waterfront - More Out of the Frame ideas...

Well seeing as this card has been so popular... here are a couple more Out of the Frame Waterfront ideas for you...

With the add of some tree reflections in my little scene... which I love!! Simple to do... ink up the partial trees as before and stamp... then turn your stamp round and stamp underneath your trees...with no re-inking in between...

And a slight change to the colour scheme... let's say more summery Lake District colours (as last week everything would definitely have been just white over there!)  I used Old Olive and Smoky Slate for the hills... and Garden Green for the trees...

Both of the scenes for these cards were produced on a plain white small (A4 10.5cm/4 1/8" or US Letter 4 1/4") square card...

First up is a simple white 3D framed scene... which was inspired by a gorgeous card emailed to me by fellow Stampin'Up! team member, Donna who had been inspired by my Out of the Frame Waterfront card when posted here... I loved Donna's use of a white frame in her card

And there was a white frame just sat there in my craft space - ready to go - as it had been created when I die cut out a Stitched Shapes square from a Whisper White panel for another card...
Simply stuck on top using the Foam Adhesive Strips which were the perfect width for the job... though make sure you use a full strip all the way round so that you don't get a "shadow gap" showing as I do top and bottom!! So so annoying!

And this would have looked nice with the frame stuck on flat too... but I have now made myself put away the Waterfront stamps!!

Second up... an Aperture card...
Scene created... Stitched Shapes square die cut from the centre... and an Old Olive frame die cut using Layering Squares and Stitched Shapes too...

Stitched square popped through the aperture and stuck to the inside of the card... Old Olive frame stuck on the front around the aperture...
Rest of card and inky details for both these cards as per this card here...

And so here is my Waterfront Out of the Frame trio for you...

Petal Passion Small Square Pop Out Swing card

Think this is my second favourite of my newly designed range of fully opening Pop out Swing cards... small in size... but big in effect...

So this is a 10.5cm Square card (aka actual 4 1/8"... though you would do a 4 1/4" version from US Letter cardstock)
Petal Passion paper panel first stuck to front of card blank and then the aperture die cut using Stitched Shapes dies...

Stampin Blends action on the paper covered die cut stitched square... using mainly Calypso Coral, Pool Party & Old Olive ... with a touch of Daffodil Delight for the flower centres... and though you can't tell in the photo... Bermuda Bay for the bottom right flower......
Finished off with a white embossed Picture Perfect greeting and a Basic Black scalloped frame using the Layering Squares & Stitched Shapes dies...

Papers inside given a bit of co-ordinating Stampin Blends action on the little flowers... just to pull it all together...

Another Petal Palette card using Colour INKspiration challenge #125 colours

As I said yesterday... I liked this colour combination so much I had to go on and make a couple more cards whilst everything was out...

So a simple aperture card today... using the Sale A Bration promotional Tutti Frutti Cards & Envelopes (which can be yours for free with every £45 ordered) These are rather nice!
As Stampin' Up! says... Let these spring-colored card bases and envelopes inspire you to make fabulous projects!

* 16 preprinted card bases and envelopes
* 4 each of 4 designs
* Folded card: 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" | 14 x 10.8 cm
* Envelope: 5-3/4" x 4-3/8" | 14.6 x 11.1 cm

Coordinating colors: Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party
Again the card mainly features the gorgeous Petal Palette bundle... though this time I have coloured in the "main event roses"... colouring details in yesterdays' post...

Picture Perfect Birthday greeting on the largest Stitched Shapes die cut square... and the aperture/frame is cut using the same Stitched Shapes square and the largest scallop square from the Layering Squares dies...

Finished off with a Stampin Blends coloured piece of White Organza 1/4" ribbon... I think I may be using quite a lot of this ribbon as it colours so beautifully and easily...

And here is a photo of my INK spirations colour challenge Petal Palette duo... lovely and fresh... and creating a very happy corner in my display...

Avant Garden again...

Last one of the mini-series! Though this one was actually the first one I made... call it the prototype!

Sky and background created using the Acrylic Block Stamping Technique which I love to use from time to time... but that causes some of my ladies to cringe out loud!! Just too random for their taste! And I have to laugh as I decided that it was too random for a swap card production line... hence the switch to something different for the day...
Soft Sky used over all the block and Island Indigo on the bottom...

Avant Garden Palm Trees as described in more detail here...

Avant Garden Palm Trees Duo

Couple more quick card ideas using the Avant Garden Palm Trees for which I posted the details for yesterday.

Edited to Add - but also click here  to see my favourite card using this concept...

First up a simple Small Square card with a panel trio... with wording from the Lift Me Up stamp set... seemed relevant!
The card is a 21cm (ie A4wide) x 10.5cm Thick Whisper White panel scored LANDSCAPE in half at 10.5cm to make the 10.5cm card blank...

With a 9.3cm wide x 9.9cm high Soft Sky mat... which is stamped as yesterday's and then trimmed into 3 x 3.1cm wide panels.
Unfortunately I had to drop this card format as my finished swap card as I realised the time!! Or rather lack of it... sorry girls!

Second up... a Small Square Pop Out Z Fold card - for which the tutorial is posted here... though I stuck down the left hand side on this version....

Avant Garden - Palm Trees

So it was time for me to design a swap card for Team Training... I noted down a few ideas (or 6).... and tried a few ideas out... but all went in the reject bin...

And then suddenly a strange thought came to me! And why not... who says the Sale A Bration promotional set Avant Garden should just for flowers!! Yours for free with any £45 order...
And once the idea was there... nothing else could come to mind!
Edited to Add - but also click here  to see my favourite card using this concept...

So time to fill you in on a few details....

Garden Green greeting, Tip Top Taupe trunks and palm tree leaves (more on these later) care of Avant Garden - as is the little island (leaf stamp)...

Sky and sea care of Perpetual Birthday Calendar and Soft Sky ink...
And back to the Palm Tree leaves... inked up in Wild Wasabi and then Kissed on a pre-inked Garden Green large textured blotch stamp from Touches of Textures (see bottom centre of the stamp set image)
Stitched Shapes largest square and Layering Squares scalloped square (2nd largest) for the focal point... and yes Stitched Shapes dies back and still in stock...

Hope you like this idea... as I have a few more cards to share! No more January blues for me... thinking of holidays on islands in the sun now....

Fancy Frost Large Square Box & Round Up...

A very quick and simple but stunning & classy Fancy Frost project... the large box video tutorial being shared by Stampin Up! here

Don't forget that this beautiful Fancy Frost paper is reduced by 30% to £8.23 for 12 sheets of embossed 12x12 goodness in this week's Online Extravaganza Sale. Until next Monday 28 November only. And note that they may call it paper but it is certainly stiff enough for a box....

I have just added a Simple Holly Jolly Layers Tag die cut with Layering Squares Framelits dies and the Real Red Candy Cane Stripe ribbon that was on the last Clearance Rack release (sadly all sold out)
And whilst I am talking of my favourite Fancy Frost papers... I think it is time for a round up... here are some other projects that I have made using the Fancy Frost papers... just click on the photo to go to the original post...
